Don't know if you got the info you were looking for, and it's been a while, but there are several doctors who accept BCBS. I believe Dr. Jayaseelan at Medical City Dallas does, you can call at 972-566-BAND.

Recovery time varies, but I was back to work in 3 days.

Hope that helps.

I have been going through True Results in Richardson, Tx. They take care of all of the insurance. If you go to their website you can fill out a small questionaire and they will tell you if your insurance has any coverage or not. They have made it an extremely easy process so far, as far as insurance goes.

I am also paying out of pocket due to insurance. I am an RN and many of my RN friends recommended Dr Smith at Ft Worth Lap Band. I have surg on the 22nd of Sept. So far all has been good. Cost is reasonable... Band with plication is $10,500. That is total... Everything included. W/o plication it is $9,900. There are many financing options availale as well... His office will walk you thriugh those if you want to use one. Good luck!

I also used true results. I was private pay, but they take care of everything they will battle your insurance for you, and schedule all your appointments. It won't cost you any extra. As a matter of fact I used them becouse it was so much cheaper they can get good deals. They set me up with Dr. Joseph Cribbins in Plano. He's in the big building that is in the same parking lot as the presbyterian hospital in Plano. I also go to him for my fills, he does them under flouroscopy. I've been happy with my results.

I recently changed insurance to UHC, and I have read that they have a pretty good rate of "approving" the surgery. Is it best to go to the Dr's office and meet with them, or should I call the insurance? Also, anyone know of good Dr's in Dallas?

Thanks,

J

Hi J,

I went through True Results 888-275-2405 or www.trueresults.com. They called me the instant I pressed enter to have a rep call me. I was able to complete my beginning paperwork, met with a patient representative and have some pre-testing with them in week 1. They gave me choices of doctors in my area and another area and I chose to meet with Dr. Snow. I had my insurance approval within a week of submitting and I have UHC also. Different companies have different policies so you'll have to see if your covers it. I had not paid all of my 'out of pocket' so insurance covered it 90% for me. I was able to do everything and have my surgery in a months time.

Find a doctor and let their office try to get the approval, they know the codes and the answers to the questions the insurance company will be asking. Many centers in the Dallas area will check your insurance for you before you have an appointment.

I used TLCEdge four months ago 1-877-852-3343. They find you a surgeon (mine was Joseph Cribbens) and have a nice sugery center.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
