Good post op meals

Recommended Posts

Jenuine629,

Good luck with your surgery. Be careful about buying too much of anything. You'd be surprised how much your tastes can change after surgery. Mine sure did. Your taste may not change but I've heard it expressed many times by different people that their tastes did change.

I hope you have a routine surgery and an easy recovery.

Kathleen

U might want to check to see if cottage cheese can be eaten on ur post op plan. Mine (also full liq for 4 weeks) specifically showed cottage cheese on the soft plan. I could have anything I could suck up a straw (while it's mighty hard to suck yogurt of pudding up a straw, it's virtually impossible to suck cottage cheese up one).

I ate my weight in Tomato Soup and if I never see another can of split pea Soup again, it'll be too soon. I drank 2 Protein shakes a day, split into 8 portions. And 1 can of soup split into 4 servings each. I usually ate a thing of sf Jello and a thing of sf pudding everyday also.

I ate the heck out of Pacific Organic boxed Soups post-op. They were smooth and filling, and they were so flavorful that I could easily conceal my Syntrax Nectar unflavored Protein. They cost about $3/box (3-4 meals each), and they're found usually on the top shelf of a Soup aisle or in the Natural Foods section. Cashew Carrot Ginger was my favorite. post-165959-0-41349400-1401756169_thumb.jpg

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
