We are approaching our 3.5 millionth post!

Recommended Posts

Hi BariatricPal Members!

I have an exciting announcement to make. We are approaching our 3.5 millionth post! That’s right…pretty soon, BariatricPal members are going to be responsible for 3,500,000 posts! I can hardly believe that we are about to hit this milestone, and I thank you, the members, that are responsible for this accomplishment.

BariatricPal had its humble beginnings in July 2003 when I started LapBandTalk. I added VerticalSleeveTalk, RNYTalk, and SleevePlicationTalk and watched the communities grow as members gathered for support, encouragement, and friendships. By the time these original boards combined to form the single BariatricPal community, we had over 225,000 active members. In fact, BariatricPal is now the most trafficked weight loss surgery community on the internet!

This accomplishment would not be possible without such incredible member support and participation. To say “thank you” for what you do for this community and mark this impressive milestone, I am offering a prize to the poster who makes post number 3.5 million! This lucky member will receive a free copy of our soon-to-be released book entitled, “The Big Book on Bariatric Surgery: Living Your Best Life After Weight Loss Surgery.” The book has valuable strategies for losing weight and loving life after weight loss surgery.

The more you post, the better your chances of being poster number 3.5 million and winning the book.

Here’s to the next 3.5 million posts!

There is no perfection in this group, just raw, honest feelings and emotion, along with kindness, sarcasm, wittiness, love, hurt, sadness and joy. I am thankful I was given information to be part of this family, because this has been the scariest journey ever for me and my husband. The surgeon and his staff did not have the answers we needed, I found it all right here. Thank you Alex, for leading and guiding a wonderful group of emotionally charged women and men as we try to make a better life for ourselves. Congratulations on a job well done! I will forever be a part of this family.

This is the first place I can be really open on. I can be a fat person trying to change and there is no judgement. Thank you.

Raise a glass of red wine, Alex! My band won't like the carbonation in the beer!

Seriously though, this site is a godsend. Congratulations on its success!

A book?!

A BOOK?!

I'm sure it's a fabulous book, Alex, but please...

May we have a 5 star, all-inclusive, all expenses paid trip to Cancun please?!

You could throw in a free surgical procedure as well, if you'd like? I'm easy.

:D

<Oh the hilarity, if this post was the 'one'! Muahahaha>

I found this site just days before being banded. I was terrified about the surgery I was shortly undergoing and the changes I knew I needed to deal with afterwards.

The posts from vets and the responses they provided to other newbies by me helped me more than I can ever express. And to top it off, I've made some wonderful friends here.

So thank you Alex for this forum site and for your oversight as well to keep it safe for us to be able to talk about things we don't even discuss with friends and/or family.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
