Haven't measured the snow as it is drifting so much, but at least two feet here at the base of the mountain. I did, however, measure my waist for some reason (stumbled on the measuring tape). Are you ready? Nine inches off of my waist since surgery. What?! Amazing. I know I need bras. And pants are loose again. But I love, love, love having a waist. I really was Mrs. winnie-the-Pooh. Not anymore!

We got about 27 inches in my neck of the woods yesterday. Thank goodness we were home and able to keep ahead of it all. Clearing it away about as fast as it was falling just to make getting out the next day (today) easier then it was during the last storm.

Even though it's only Wed. I feel like it's been a week in 2 days!! All the "preparation" that went into getting ready for the storm. I'm glad we did it I was worried about power outages but in the end it was mostly not necessary but better safe then sorry right?

Here is quick photo of me in my winter gear as I drove with my son in his new car (holding my breath the whole way!) to get gas on Monday morning, and a photo of the puppies out in snow that was way over their heads but still having a great time playing out there in it!

Me...sorry your not going to get me to build a snowman!! Maybe a sand castle on a beach somewhere. I do not like snow or winter! Do love snowflakes in the form of diamond jewelry though but that's about it.

Oh good! I was going to text you today to find out how bad it was. I'm sure you know the storm was a big bust here in the city though I'm actually fine with it. Did not want my weekend impacted as I am seeing ultrasound pics of the baby on Saturday. Anyway, glad to know that you are all OK and you didn't lose power.

Hi everyone.

I have not been out yet and we got 2-3', don't know the exact amount. I live in a condo and we have to clean our own cars. My husband drives a huge SUV limo and it has no snow on it, thank you wind. My car just has it around the doors not on it. My walkway is done. I live in a townhouse, so I have my own walkway.Last February my husband fell on black ice in our walkway and broke his back so we are more careful now an over salt.

I am about 10 miles south of Boston. My youngest son lives on the ocean, but up a small hill, so he doesn't get the waves but Monday night his wife recorded the 75 mile winds. Sounded awful but they were safe.

A sight will be when I go out to shovel. I have my old ski clothes from my 40's, I am 64 now. But not the complete outfits of each. So my jacket is purple and my pants are hot pink. But I will be warm and dry.

Everyone be safe and dry and warm.

Arlene

@@gowalking Thanks!! We made it through, though I will admit I'm glad the city storm wasn't as bad. I remember a few years ago having to go and dig my father out of the ice cave his cars were covered in.

First baby photo's! Amazing the technology we have today!!

@@dylanmiles23 I'm sure your going to fashionable no matter what! Pink and purple are a great combo and warm and dry are even better!!!

Hi friends. I have a question and would love some feedback from ya'll. I've been eating the same way since I was on solid foods some two years ago. Around 1,200 total calories and much like a Weight Watchers program. 3 oz. Protein, 1/2 cup of veggies, and 1/4 cup of carbs at dinner. Breakfast is often oatmeal or cream of wheat or a half a bagel thin with Peanut Butter. Somtimes I'll have two eggs or even Cereal. lunch is usually a half a sandwich. I also have fruit and 100 calorie ice cream or pudding for a treat after dinner.

Because I have no Fluid in my band, I can eat anything so I'm very careful to watch my portions. I've been somewhere between 115-118 lbs. for a couple of months now and figured my weight was stable and I could finally buy some quality clothing without having to worry about getting too small and giving yet more things away.

So...I noticed this week that a pair of slacks I just bought less than a month ago are a little loose. I get on the scale this morning and I weigh 111.6 lbs. I really don't want to keep losing weight at this point. I know that I've probably got at least ten lbs. of loose skin so when I see the scale say that number, it means I'm flirting with my weight being less than 100 lbs.

Should I increase my Protein? Should I go to 4 oz. of protein at dinner? I don't want to increase the wrong types of foods. I'm a carbaholic and it's tempting to go to 1/2 cup of carbs instead of 1/4 cup but I think that may be dangerous for me. I don't even want to increase to a whole sandwich at lunch...I know it's too many calories. What do you guys think? I know I can ask the NUT at my surgeon's office, but I wanted to see what you guys had to say first.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Liz

I think there are real health advantages to full fat foods -- whole yogurt, real butter, etc. All those "good fats" such as avocados. How about nuts? Almonds are my go to if I'm feeling nibbly and suspect it's more than just old habit. I start with four but have more if I want. I cannot have Peanut Butter in the house, but if you can then what about a spoonful? I would get organic -- best quality foods possible for your body. Of course I am not in this place but just imaging what I would do if I started feeling too scrawny. I don't want to lose my curves. Here's to your healthy Liz!

@@gowalking I want to let you know that I have seen you recently and you look fantastic! You are looking healthy and vibrant and I want to see you stay that way!!! So yes my friend increase the amount of Protein that you are eating.

Protein is the only nutrient that your body does not hold on to that you have to replenish every day. Your body will make good use of it and help you to increase your muscle tone and that's what you don't want to loose and once you are at nearly zero % body fat that's what's going to happen. Your muscles are going to start breaking down to support the energy your body is calling for, and your going to slowly feel weak and sickly.

So increase that protein!! Add in a bit extra at lunch go from 3-5 oz of chicken or fish. You don't have to go to red meats in high volume but add them in occasionally in high quality like lamb, filet minion etc.

Can you tell I have been certified as a nutritionist? If I wanted to go to med school I'd have lots of credits to add toward a degree :)

Just reread your post and the part about the Peanut Butter (can't edit on my iPad)......what about adding in a hundred calories for a week or two to see what it feels like?

Good evening everyone. On one of my FB groups they were saying that Biotin causes weight gain. Anyone ever hear of this? I take 5000 a day. Two people said they stopped and lost 12 pounds fast. I take it for nails and hair loss. I have a few thin spots and also use hair products my stylist told me to use. Begins with a N and is like Nixon but not Nixon.

Well tomorrow the snow begins again and again on Monday. Drive safe snow bound people.

Just remember the Pats are winning Sunday.

Wow. I will be so happy when I take a size 16. I have a large bone frame and never took smaller than 14. My daughter is the same and looks anorexic when in 9/10 clothes. She is a happy size 12

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
