An anyone tell me what is the best pre op clear liquid Protein Powder is good.

I really don't want to drink anything that will make me gag.

All information on pre-op diet would be great.

Thank you

You can buy unflavored Protein powder and add a bit to your broth, tea, Water, etc. If you add just a few pinches to each liquid, then you should be able to get in enough Protein each day. Good luck to you! :)

Just remember that unflavored only means it's not vanilla, chocolate or any other flavor. All Protein powder has a distinct taste to it. I found that I could put it in tea but not any other liquid as it made for a funky taste (to me). There are several companies that offer free samples of thier shakes. You should be able to search for those on here. Are you sure your going to be on a clear Liquid Protein diet pre-op? Most are liquids, but not necessarily Clear Liquids. (I believe anything with Protein wouldn't constitute being clear).

I was wrong I have to just do shakes and sugar free stuff as well as some low fat dairy.

It's after surgery that I will be doing Clear Liquids.

What powder is best?

The best powder is the one that tastes good to you. I'm sorry if that's sounds a little flippant, but it's very true. Everyone has different tastebuds and reacts different to the taste of the shakes and powders. For example, I absolutely loathe unjury. I love Chike and Syntrax nectar. See if you can find samples of some different kinds and try them.

Cold Water soluble Gelatin has a ton of Protein, no taste, and you can stir it into pretty much anything. You can order it off Amazon (Great Lakes brand). I used it in a variety of things post-op because the shakes were too thick.

Also, the stuff that tastes good to you before surgery may not taste as good after. My mom bought me a ton of this one brand of Protein shake that was really delicious pre-op, then I went to drink one two weeks out and it tasted awful! The only Protein Shake I've been able to stomach both before and after in terms of taste was the EAS Carb AdvantEDGE carb control shakes. I get them from Target by the supplements. Their vanilla actually tastes like a McDonalds vanilla milkshake!

I know a lot of people like Isopure but it always had an aftertaste of vomit to me.

I used the premier Protein premixed shakes from Sams Club. For powder, I use the Pure Protein. Its not gritty. I get it in strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. I blend in my fruits

I bought Bariatric Advantage at the surgeon's office (chocolate and vanilla) but tasted too milky and I HATE milk. My husband loved it. I found EAS Protein powder at Walmart and that was the one I liked best. You can flavor the vanilla with SF Torani syrups, fruit, and Crystal Light powder. Now that we are out 6 months, we have the Premier Protein shakes in the carton from Sam's Club, but my NUT told me at 3 months to stop drinking shakes. Everything seems to change quickly so don't buy a case of anything LOL!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
