Start regular food next week

Recommended Posts

So next Monday I'm able to begin regular foods and I'm terrified. I've eaten so unhealthy for so long, I'm not sure what to eat. On this soft food phase I feel like I'm always hungry. I'm terrified of stretching my stomach back out. I eat baked fish day and night because I know at least that's good for you.

I know to stay away from white bread, Pasta, and rice.

If you have any recipe ideas or have anything to add to stay away from, I would appreciate it. I'm terrified to death of failure.

Some meals I've had this week: (I'm 2 months out) I eat what my family does only sometimes altered.

-ground turkey & marinara over a small amount of spaghetti squash

-taco meat (turkey) and black Beans w/ cheese, Greek yogurt and salsa (no tortilla)

-turkey deli meat and a slice of cheese (in a hurry & on the run)

-grilled chicken & zucchini

-insides of a chicken enchilada (Mexican restaurant)

-roasted chicken and carrots

-cottage cheese w/ marinara, turkey pepperoni & mozzarella (I call it fake lasagna)

Sleeveless in Seattle: first of all LOVE the name! Second off, all of those meals sound delish! I love the wrapped up turkey and cheese on the run. It's my favorite snack! How much are you eating per meal? Do you measure in ounces still?

Yes I still measure everything and log it all on myfitnesspal. For example, the taco meal, I almost finished my dish of 1.5 oz meat, a Tbsp Beans, tbsp yogurt. Spaghetti squash, I do about 1/3 c meat and space with a heaping Tbsp squash. Fake lasagna, 1/4 c cottage cheese, 2 Tbsp sauce, 8 turkey pepperoni cut up, 3/4 oz mozzarella. Grilled or roasted chicken, 1 to 1-1/2 oz plus a few bites of the veggie. Hope that helps.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
