I too am in NC and have BCBS, but have not heard this and tomorrow is my 3rd appointment with my PCP? Who is your surgeon, @@lucky2014?? So you're saying effective July 15, the 6 month PCP/diet visits aren't required anymore?

Dr Enochs in Cary. They told me in a response today that the BCBS of NC requirements are changing, but they don't have the criteria material yet so they'll let me know. I had my 3rd PCP visit today, only 3 more!

What 6 months are you having to do with your surgeon??

Yes that's the six-month requirements wait before surgery. I have to do a weight check and a bmi check every month ....thats why she told me I didn't have to wait until December on july15 they will start calling patients and letting them know the updates requirement or it will be posted on bcbs websites

Yes well it turned out my normal pcp didn't want to do them so she advised me to do them with the surgeons office and I called bcbs to ask them if it was ok ...they said that it was perfect cause everything would be in order without any mistakes made

So this is the quote I found under the revisions section of the Policy for Surgery for Morbid Obesity section of BCBS NC dated 7-15-2014: "Requirement that patient be an active participant in non-surgical weight reduction program for at least 6 months prior to surgery removed."

How exciting is that. If that means I don't have to finish out my PCP visits, then I'm on track to finish my pre-op tests and submit to the insurance sometime in August or early September.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
