DonnaD's countdown

Recommended Posts

Well this is it. My last pre-band pre-op diet day. Nisrene at TLBC told me to have a juicy steak and some fresh bread today as that seems to be the foods next to impossible to eat post band.

I have done my shopping for post-op but am still not sure about the protien powder. Is there one that is better? Is it added to Water?

Is Benefibre something you bandsters take everyday or only when things get a little ruf or stuck, whichever?

My surgery date is April 26th. I would like to make a ticker thing but I don't know how. I know it was posted here somewhere but I can't find it. I know it is ticker.com but how does it get to here? I am technology impaired according to my teenage children so don't give me any grief. You are permitted to laugh with me however.

So this is the last supper day. Apparantly, according to all of you, I will not regret this. I keep sucking in my cheeks and telling my kids that they are going to have one hot mamma on their hands soon.

Dr. Yau said he will be putting my port in my caeseran scar which in my bikini line .....hah what a joke...someone remind me what a bikini is. I know we apply some very hot wax in close proximity to it. I wonder if jabbing that area with needles will be more painful than where he usually puts it. By the way, where does he usually put it?

Hope I'm not yammering too much but I may be freaking out just a tiny bit here.

I'm off to try the ticker thing. Wish me luck.

Thanks again for all of your support and inspiration.

Hey Donna - we are on the same path. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow as well. I am starting a little early because my eating was so out of control. I am being banded May 2nd by Dr. Yau at Scarborough Grace. Exciting isn't it?

About the ticker go to tickerfactory.com Then just follow the steps it is really easy. After you make your ticker, then go to edit your profile here and there is a section to add a ticker. copy and post the http code from ticker factory to that section and voila! It will appear.

Were you are the TLBC pre op seminar on the 10th?

Good luck,

Susan

No, I will be attending the seminar on April 23rd. I booked my surgery at the same time as I booked my consult. I was going to be on vacation and I didn't want to wait any longer for the surgery.

What was the seminar about?

Hi DonnaD

I hope that your day is great and that you will enjoy your steak and bread! bread has always been a weakness for me. Any kind pretty much, and of course that includes cakes, Cookies, squares and and and.... I think you get the picture here...lol I am sure that I will try and eat it after the band but I am really hoping that it will be one of those things I have to walk away from. It is just so damn handy when you want something in your mouth...lol ok that sounded kinda #$%^&*...

-=grabs mind out of the gutter and gives it a shake=- lol you know what I mean.

I don't go until May 30th for my band, it seems like a long way off right now especially when I watch others head off to have theirs done. -=waves and sighs=- but I know I will be saying how fast the time went by once it is the day before. I am excited for you and hope that you will have a really easy time.

-=smiles and nods =- It's all good!! soon you will be out there looking at bikini's and running off to get waxed!! lol Gotta love waxing!! Mahahahaha I do waxing... and I have to say there really isn't a better way to remove wanted hair. Unless of course you can do laser removal. I try to be gentle -=looks around the room with a kinda mischievious look=- honest I do.... no really.... well mostly I do... kinda.... sorta... oh heck I enjoy my job what can I say! lol Pedicures are wonderful to give. I love how happy the client feels after having their feet worked on. Even some that are not into having their feet touched feel so much better after.

Opps got sidetracked!

All the best DonnaD!!

Can't wait to see your ticker and watch it move!!!

Today is day one of the pre-op diet. Yogurt, Jello, water....you TLBCers know the ropes.

I had the runs yesterday and feel great this morning, actually weighed 2.5 pounds less. Now now, don't be thinking I am full of sh#*. Well, even if I was, I am not now. I am just enjoying my morning coffee and hopefully this won't be too rough.

I am all stocked up for the pre diet and have a long list to pick up for the post.

I am going to ask my daughter to hide the scale because I know I will be fanatical about weighing myself. I think this morning and the weigh in on the surgery date should be good enough. Do you guys weigh weekly, monthly or always?

Talk to you soon, Donna

Hi Donna,

Once again - you and I are neck and neck. I am really curious about how much you and everyone else who has done this before has eaten. What will you have for Breakfast? lunch? dinner?

I also bought Egg Whites only to make scrambled eggs in the microwave. There are approved because they are similar in Protein, fat (none) and calories as say - yogurt or Jello.< /p>

I weighed myself this morning and plan on weighing myself every day! It will be hard enough fighting the food demons, I will give in to my scale obsession! :faint:

I am rooting for you!!!

Susan

Hi Susan

No where did I read in my folder from TLBC that you are allowed to eat egg whites. If I knew how to work the scanner I could send you the sheet. If you have a fax machine I could send it that way. You could send a private message if you don't want to post it here.

My email is dilumi@rogers.com

Hi Donna,

It's not in the folder - but someone else who was banded at TLBC was told that if they could find something else with the same nutritional value - it was fine. She ate them because she hated cottage cheese and was successfully banded last month.

Thanks Susan

I will call Nesrene, confirm and let you know. Wouldl it be eggbeaters that you bought.

I haven't actually planned anything in particular for meals. I thought I would go with hunger pangs. I have only had one cup of coffee so far today but I will probably have a yoghurt shortly.

I actually bought "Egg Whites Only" - which has no fat at all. Not sure about Egg Beaters. I had a yougurt, coffee and I will now have a Jello because I am really hungry. I don't think we should try to starve ourselves, but I suspect that after a few days it will get easier. I think lots of liquids will help too.

Donna - seminar was great. They walk you through every moment of your surgery day from the time you wake up until the time you leave. We got a tour of the OR, recovery rooms etc. Then there is a presentation on the pre and post op diets as well as a very detailed explanation of how the band works. It helped me feel more relaxed and assured that I was doing the right thing.

Sounds great. Mine is this coming Monday.

I am not trying to starve myself but when I start eating I have a very difficult time stopping. I was just buying time.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
