2 weeks out from sleeve surgery. Time to add smashed fish, tuna, scrambled eggs & steamed veggies into the diet. Only problem is that just the smell of them makes me nauseous. ......?????? What to do???? Does anyone have advice on how to get past this hurdle??

I would not force it. We all are different. I know my doc said 2 weeks but I did not start till about 3 weeks. If you are tolerating the Protein drinks and getting Water in etc you could wait. I know by the time I had my first mushy food I was drooling for it. I had mayo and tuna. I could only get 2 bites in but that is how it goes. Soup you can get more in so maybe stay on strained Soup for awhile. I did canned chicken with mayo also. Just make sure it is mashed up real good!! The longer you let your tummy heal the better ( just my opinion)

I am tolerating the Protein Drinks very well. The carbs like mashed potatoes and cream of wheat I tolerate well too. Also the applesauses and fruit juice i do fine on. I think it really is the smell of the fish, eggs, Soups and more savory items that's really bothering me. Maybe I should just back off on those for another week or two like you said. Thanks for the response and help!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
