How much time between sips do you usually take? I know that this is something I'll need to figure out for my own body, but at the moment I am having a hard time gauging my stomach capacity and am worried about stretching it.

For me at 4 weeks post op, my magic number is three sips every 5-10 minutes. Took me awhile to figure that out! Good luck to you!

I'm 9 days post-op. I drink about an ounce every 15 minutes which is about 4 sips. I use a stop watch (on my phone) and a 1 ounce medicine cup to keep track.

I know that this is something I'll need to figure out for my own body,

You hit the nail on the head!! As time goes on, you'll find what works best for you and it will likely vary quite a bit even then. Here and there along the way, you might exceed your limits on food or drinks (no biggie) and that will pretty much establish how much you can handle.

The only thing I still typically use a timer for is the waiting 30 minutes after eating to drink fluids.

Enjoy..........

;)

I feel like I'm drinking too much at a time. I mean I don't FEEL it. I'm not getting the pressure I expected and was told to stop at. When the day is out, no I haven't hit the goals yet but I'm not sure if it's because I'm too scared that I'm "doing it wrong."

Of course I still have my stomach of steel!!! Argh!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
