Surgery Date..One week away! Excited & nervous

Recommended Posts

My Surgery is next Friday, May 9th! I am doing well on my pre-op diet. But as the surgery approaches, I am getting more and more nervous. I have tried to look back at my life and see if there was anything I could have still tried to stay away from such a major surgery. Can't think of anything.

I need someone to tell me that I am doing the right thing for my health. Hopefully all goes well!

We had a discussion going on about this recently -- it's common to question whether or not you could lose the weight without surgery. I think of that every now and then because I'm pre-op too. Only you can tell if you've done all you could or should before the surgery. It's interesting -- I'm not thinking of WLS surgery as a last resort. Taking unhealthy (and ineffective) diet pills or going on crazy diets that don't provide my body with what it needs to live -- those are crazy, last resort things. This surgery is tested, considered safe and a tool to help me lose weight. It's not my last resort -- it's the best option I have for success.

I think what you're going through is normal. Just focus on the things that helped you make this decision and look to the future.

I went through that same thing during the preop diet. I wrestled back and forth with should I or shouldn't I. Well I did on April 29. I am 3 days out. Still don't know how I would answer that question right now with all the pain I have had but I also had to have a hernia repair as well. I will wait until I am further out before I answer the question of should I or shouldn't I.

May 6th for me, today was pre-op, signing last consent forms, paying for the surgery! Things got VERY REAL today! I know that if I needed surgery for a tumor or any other life threatning condition I would not question it. So I will not question this because I belive this is life saving for me.

I'm also about a week away, May 13th! I understand your nerves (I have them as well). But know that you are doing this to make a positive change in your life. Think of all the things that will change for the better and about all the things you'll be able to do post surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
