Looks like you're only a few months post-op. If you haven't drank anything bubbly since surgery, be careful how fast you drink. The bubbles may fill you up quicker than you think. I think I waited till the 6 month mark before I tried my 1st fizzy drink post-op.

I still can't drink beer. Champagne I can sip, but beer is just too much carbonation, for me anyway.

Fullo- have fun on your birthday, but be careful to not overstretch your new sleeve :)

I never was a big drinker but alway enjoyed a cold beer every now and then, and after 4 months, sticking to diet and exercise plan and shrinking down from a size 42 pants to a 36 I felt like I deserved a little treat. I It took me the whole game to finish 3/4s of it, but I was able to enjoy and savor each sip,

now back to reality and back to diet and exercise.

And the best part is the flyers won and crushed the rangers.

I read in a forum where a Dr. There was no proof that drinking carbonated drinks really did stretch the pouch, of course is not a good thing to drink beer because is high in calories with no nutritional value, but just like anyone else without a sleeve if you drink too much carbonation you will burp it out :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
