"Band plication begins by placing a Lap Band as is normally done. After placing the band, the stomach below the band is rolled in on itself, or plicated, and sewn in place. This significantly decreases the volume of the stomach, and creates a “sleeve”. The plication “sleeve” works very much like a sleeve gastrectomy in that it significantly limits the volume of the stomach and thus how much food can be eaten."

@@chez I'm doing great. Have moved to sleeping on my side and feel wonderful now. Phyiso helped with my back and it shouldn't be too long and I'll be able to start swimming and doing light workouts. Had my dressings changed by my GP today and she said they were healing nicely. I'm shocked at how full I'm getting on so little... but I know this is normal it's just amazing to me given my history. Had my Egg Mash for lunch today and I'm in love with it. It fills me quick though. I've had to keep having a musashi shake throughout the day to boost my Protein up as I just physically can't handle the volume of food so that adds the 30g Protein I may miss otherwise.

Hey Chez... what are you eating at the moment? you're 2 weeks ahead of me aren't you?

@@nerms the plication sounds great. I'm almost jealous as I've had a bit of regret seeping in (but being quickly dismissed by a positive attitude and knowledge that this is already an awesome thing) :) How are you feeling this week? does your diet have to be similar to mine?

@@steveelea I hope your back feels better soon. I hate backs being out it stops you from doing so much!

Anyway... I had snow here today so I've been out taking loads of photos and I'm hoping for more tonight! (hope the picture works... it was blizzardy)

Oh wow snow :) I saw it on the news too!

I think our diets are pretty much the same, I'm struggling getting anything down though. I'm supposed to have 6x 300ml but I'm getting maybe 600mls and some water.. My stomach is still hard as a rock bloated so yeah.. I feel a lot better today though, managed to roll on my side this morning so was much more comfortable :)

It was Clear liquids and now I'm on more full liquids, so up and gos and yoghurts. It's just all sweet and I'm over it. Thinking of going to woolies and buying some Soup.

@@nerms try broth when your sick of the sweet stuff....it tastes so good I know what you mean about too much sweets.

@ try not to worry about the teeny amounts you are getting in right now, as the longer you are sleeved the more you will be able to eat.

My dietitian and nurse told me that by about a year out I will be able to have a small plate and I was like you, struggling to get much in but already I am now on half a cup to 3/4 cup depending on what I am eating.

I was worried about never being able to eat normal again but I now can and I am loving it!!!!

@@steveelea thanks for that! I know it's only for a short while and I'm ok if I can only eat an entre it's just so foreing to me only being able to stomach a few teaspoons and I also worry about my intake being too low! I'm working it out though and am on top of my Vitamin and Protein needs thankfully.

Cooked some chook today to puree and have with avo and mayo for lunches. yum

@@chez I'm going ok. I'm feeling a bit at the moment... Bored with counting cals and Protein and I've been a bit tired, hoping I'm not getting a cold.

Making lamb and carrot stew tonight and had roast chook with avocado, ricotta, mayo for lunch today! I think I'm being impatient... this is a process. I'm looking forward to soft phase though lol! So here's to the two month mark! Only 6 weeks to go ☺️

Thanks Steveelea

I am excited ........ and not - the unknown of surgery always is a little daunting and the re-plumbing for the gastric bypass seems scary but to be the person I want and need to be/become is a step I have not made lightly so I hope all goes to plan .....

I was lucky not to have to do the pre-op diet I have seen you all talk about as I was doing Bodytrim and had managed to lose some weight as well as become fitter. I hope this does not come back and bite me in the long run.

Thanks for making me welcome.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
