Half full or half empty.....

Well, half way there in a little over 3 months. The food adjustments were not that hard, but trying to maintain the gym and exercise routine is another story. I have to prod myself every time to go and it takes me half way thru the sessions to get into the groove.

While I can certainly tell I have lost weight, I think the real noticeable loss is going to be the second half on my way to goal.

The psyche can be frustrating too.....Even though the first half of my weight loss seems to have flown by, anticipating at least another 3-6 months to lose the rest, still seems like a really long time.

The real difference this time around is.....for the first time I feel I am in charge and losing in a healthy manner. I'm doing it and not some quickie pill or fad diet that will only be temporary. I don't have this sense of hurrying to a goal only to revert back to old eating habits. I am satisfied with the food choices I'm making now and I have found I can control any cravings in a limited way. Thanks to little "sleevie" it's just not worth it to use my limited daily food intake for junk. Always Protein first..........Sorry fatty stuff.....just no room left for you.

you are doing FABULOUSLY!!!

just think about the big picture...when was the last time you lost 67 pounds in 3 months... if you are like us...the answer would be "NEVER"... ;)

so keep your perspective, and keep on keeping on!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss. You're doing great.

For me, dealing with the mental issues has been a daunting task as of late. Without the food to numb me and stuff the emotions down, I've had to DEAL with the emotional issues that brought me to WLS.

I agree about proding yourself to work out. I want to blow it off every darn time. I exercise after work, since I am in San Antonio for work and live in the next county over, (Wilson county). That is why I pack my work out gear the night before and have it in my vehicle. Gives me less of an excuse to blow it off. I tell myself: "you've got the gear in the car--get your butt to the gym."

I can only do one day at time. Something that really stuck with me during my time attending Overeaters Anonymous meetings--seriously thinking about going back to them. It would help me spiritually. The one thing about the meetings I remember was the absolute acceptance I felt at those meetings. No one judged me and I was accepted for who I was.

@Katcloudshepherd those sessions could help... I know going to meetings once a month (wish it was more) I feel more "accountable" for myself, even tho we don't weigh in there...

Just think of 3-6 months as being by the time summer is over. You will be enjoying the outdoors. Keep your head up you got this.

Congratulations on reaching the half-way point! It is a constant struggle for all of us and will be life long. Thankful for forums where we can share with people who get it.

I simply cannot find a way to get into the gym thing. Pack the "gym bag", get in the car, do the gym thing, pack the gym bag, drive home...just not for me.

That said, I lost 130 lbs in just under fourteen months. My exercise of choice - just plain old walking. First on a treadmill but that quickly got boring so I moved to walking in a park near my home. I started with 20 minutes a day and worked my way up from there. Today I do at least three miles, three times a week. I enjoy it almost as much as my black Lab. And my equipment cost was a $15 pair of tennies from costco.

More recently, I purchased a Total Gym and have started doing strength training three days a week. Love it. Probably never going to look like Chuck Norris but that's OK. I enjoy it, I can already see the difference and feel even better than I did before.

Whatever it is, perhaps the most important thing you can do is find an exercise routine that you e n j o y. That's the one that you'll stick with and you'll be thrilled with the results!

Congrats on the success!!

As for the gym - try and find a sport you enjoy, or a class. I know many people love Zumba. I choose to play soccer. I play about 4-5 times a week. Make working out fun. Set goals for yourself and try to beat them sooner than you had planned. It is all in how you look at it and what you enjoy doing. I will add though when I was going to the gym on a regular basis training for a PT test my skin did not sag (mainly my arms) as much as it does right now.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
