10 months Post-Op: Knocking on Goal!

Recommended Posts

10 months post-op update! 95 pounds down, 3 lbs to go to get to original goal, 8 pounds to get to new goal. I know it's not a great pic, but I seriously need to invest in a full length mirror (now that I don't hate looking at myself--ha!). Oh, and excuse my mess!!!

You look great!! Look at that tiny waist!! Can you tell me your starting weight and ht ?? I will have about 125 to loose- Just doing the approval steps now and plan surgery around August -

When I started the process I was at 248 and standing at 5'6". I went into surgery at 228, and I am currently at 153. I'm wearing a 6/8 top (small or medium), size 8/10 bottom (medium; depends on leg room, I have thick thighs and the waist is usually huge due to the fact that I can't go smaller--but I'm not complaining!). My initial goal was 150, then I changed that to 145. From my starting weight, I've lost 95 pounds. From all the posts I've read on this site this past year, I'm not a fast or slow loser. Somewhere in the middle. As I've approached goal, it's gotten slower and slower. Everyone is different though (for example, my aunt was sleeved 1 month ahead of me and has dropped 160 pounds!). I incorporated a lot of cardio and weight training into my program. Now that I'm 8 pounds from goal and happy with my size, I've backed off of the cardio (3 days a week vs. 6 days a week) and I've upped the weight lifting sessions. I want to fill in the loose skin in my arm and thigh areas. They are not really bad at all and nothing a little muscle can't improve.

I hope that helped! Best of luck to you!!!

Thank you for the compliment JanetPRN!

Thanks for the update- it's inspirational to be able to envision that I could be at that point in "X" amount of time.

You know sleevexcited, I remember joining this sight around this time last year and looking through all the post-op pics and imaging what I would look like, if I would look like that, or if I would have that much success. It was hard to believe, but it's a reality now. It so surreal. It's exciting and it'll happen for you too! Good luck!!!

Wow - we are really close in stats:) I was sleeved May 22, 2013 started at 244 and I'm at 151 now. I'm still losing slowly a pound or so here and there. I'm shorter than you though (5"4'). You are looking awesome! I agree - it is very surreal to be almost a year out and be successful. I guess I was always afraid in the back of my mind that I would somehow fail at this too. I've failed at losing weight for so long - it's almost a dream to be at my goal.

My new goal is to firm everything up. I haven't done as much weight training/exercising as I had planned:( but I'm trying to fix that now. I do have a lot of tummy skin (that will hopefully be removed in the near future - fingers crossed). That's not going away with weight training, but the inner thigh and arms I'm hoping will firm up. Keep up the amazing work and let me know how the firming up works for you:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
