What to ask at consult?

Recommended Posts

So I have my first plastics consult next Monday... I have no idea what questions I should be asking the surgeon? I have never had any plastic surgery before and frankly don't know anything about it. I would like to get a breast lift and augmentation, arms, possibly a Tummy Tuck and maybe lower body lift. So if anyone can help me compile a list of questions or concerns I should bring up please help!!!

Just because someone is a plastic surgeon doesn't mean they have experience with WLS patients. Make sure to ask. I'm going to post a link from a girl on YouTube who shared her journey, you can find a lot of her videos. Most people have success. My friend had to have two separate surgeries because I think total operating time was longer than 8 hours...she said that healing in her thigh lift hurt the most, God Bless!!!

Went to my consult with a plastic surgeon who comes highly recommended. Also my sister and nephew used him. He deals with alot of weightloss patients as well. He quoted me $18220 for a Tummy Tuck, arm lift, breast lift and augmentation along with removal of extra skin from the sides of my boobs( used to be fat on the sides of the boobs, where the bra band goes) so now I just have to see if I can come up with all that money....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
