Anyone Else Having or Had Food Dreams/Nightmares?

Recommended Posts

Today is Day 5 of my Pre op liquid diet and so far I've had two food dreams. The first one I couldn't stop eating gooey chocolate chip Cookies, fresh from the oven. Last night I dreamt I was at a restaurant and ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries and they messed up my order and brought me THREE! Of course, I ate them. At the end of each dream I feel terrible guilt, then I wake up, relieved it was all a dream!

Just wondering what others food dreams have been, or am I just weird? LOL!

I did! My first week post op I had dreams (nightmares) of eating chicken while I was still on Clear Liquids. I'd wake up in a panic- sweaty & breathing fast& terrified thinking "omg, I need to go to the hospital!" But then I'd realize it's just a dream. LOL

I had dreams the first two weeks after surgery about eating solid foods and woke up panicked that I hurt my sleeve! Scary stuff!

I have those dreams all the time!! It's when I'm really focusing on not eating certain foods... The other night I dreamed that I just COULDN'T STOP drinking a big cup of soda! And I paused and was like "wait this is bad for me! Oh well" *chug chug chug*. HAHAH!

I too had food dreams the 1st 2 weeks post op... I would eat solid food in my dreams and wake up in a panic that I had sabotaged my surgery and my sleeve. The good thing is that it went away and I have literally had head hunger once or twice in the past 7 wks!!! Best wishes to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
