Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get rid of these dizzy spells and faint feelings. It makes me regret getting this surgery. I'm always feeling weak and like I'm about to faint if I stand up and I have been drinking liquids so I don't understand. And all test came out good.

OK -- obvious question here -- have you contacted your surgeon? Or NUT? Also, make sure you're getting lots of Water -- dizziness can be a symptom of dehydration.

Best wishes!

. Yes. I have contacted my surgeon. I have an app Tomm and I was told that I was dehydrated but I've been drinking a lot but I still feel bad. I hate it I can't do anything.

I'm 15 months out and I get that all the time. I eat, drink etc. so I am going to get all of my blood work redone. I'm bruising very easy of late so I want to see if that's also at play with the dizziness and almost fainting spells.

6 months out and I still get it. But I also have hypoglycemia.

My trick is to quick eat a light cheesestick and some cashews. They pick me up fast and I recover quickly.

Also, being dehydrated will exaggerate the passing out feeling as well.

Make sure you're drinking enough first off..then maybe add in cheesestick n nuts if you like that stuff. But you need to be careful for too many extra Snacks.

I suffered from this pre-surgery due to an unrelated condition. It's often due to a lower blood pressure, and losing weight can do that to your blood pressure. It may just take time for your body to adjust. Also, you may not be getting enough salt and other electrolytes. If you can manage Gatorade or something like that, it can help. I use these little packets made by Emergen-C because I can't deal with too much fake sugar

It was the funniest thing when my doc prescribed more salt in my diet!

I'm currently having trouble with dizzy spells too but I know that it's from my low blood pressure. My doctor also told me to include more salt in my diet. I don't see how that's possible since I already eat a lot of salt. I also drink a lot of Powerade zero with electrolytes. I'm probably going to have to talk to my primary because my blood pressure keeps lowering and I'm really feeling dizzy when I stand up.

Hey Tallysfunny,

Have you had you Iron levels checked? Sounds similar to what I deal with on a daily basis with anemia. I bruise easy, feel faint and dizzy at times. I have not had my procedure yet (1 week left) but I wanted to see if perhaps your doctors check your hemoglobin levels. Just curious :)

I'm fortunate to work at a hospital so I just had my hemoglobin checked. My HGB was 14.5. I'm going Monday for a bigger gamut of lab tests for my 5/1 appointment with my primary. Not really sure what's going on but I did read about something that is making me think I am experiencing this. Reactive hypoglycemia. Happens in 15% of people that have some kind of stomach surgery. We shall see. I will post about what they say.

I had the same problem. I was passing out and feeling terrible when I stood up and did any kind of exertion. My cardiologist told me about a doctor at the mayo clinic who he met in Washington DC at a medical seminar. This doctor told my doctor that in his study 8 to 10 percent of the bariatric patients he studied suffered from chronic low blood pressure. My doctor started me on Midodrine and has me take it 3 times a day and not after 5 pm. It has worked wonders for me and my blood pressure is not normal. Thank goodness, I was really getting nervous. Hope this information helps.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
