How many calories?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 10 months about and 90lbs down. Looking to still loose about 15-20lbs. How many calories do you try to consume to still loose weight? And, how many calories to you try to consume if you are consistently doing about 30min of cardio/exercise about 3-4 times a week. I hear that sometimes you won't loose weight if you aren't taking in enough calories while exercising.

I recently just started working out religiously and have gained about 3lbs. But I also kinda slacked on my diet. Looking to get back into a good routine to the last of my weight. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks you!

I stay under 850 net calories and am still losing. Not as fast as at the outset, but definitely still losing pretty steadily each month. We had our surgeries the same month so we are the same amount of time out. I get a fair amount of exercise in, but only log half my exercise calories on MFP and never go over 1050 total calories in a day no matter how much I exercise.

ETA: if you are still working with your surgical team/dietician, do they have advice or expectations for you in terms of calories and what you should be eating? I am following my team's guidelines but yours may be different!

I am struggling with how many calories to eat. My nutritionist will not give me a number -- arg!

I have been losing weight pretty consistently at about 800 calories / day. I work out a lot! (5-10 hours / week) and very intensely. I have started to feel weaker and more dizzy lately. During workouts I have also started to feel not as strong.

My therapist is very concerned about my calorie intake. She actually made me promise to up my calories to at least 900 for the next couple of week. I'm going to reach out to my nutritionist and see what she says -- maybe she will give me a number or something.

I really think this is a personal thing -- someone who is 5' will not need the same calories as someone who is 5'10 and ditto for someone who walks or elipticals a few times a week vs. weight training and HIIT. I think this is why my NUT wont give a number, she knows it is different for everyone.

I am only 4 months out so I am not sure if this will help you. I was eating around 800 and my weight loss slowed down to like 2 lb a week, for about 4 weeks. I started running 30 min 4-5 days a week(c25k) and it picked up a little. I track all my food, well last week I lost 6lb and realized I have been eating around 1000 calories a day. Sometimes I don't understand it at all. But I think (and want to say you can read about it in work out websites) that it's important to vary your calorie intake. Your body can adjust and maybe get compliant to any calories limit. I think that's why workout folks have cheat days.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
