I am schduled for April 23rd, can ya all tell me what you drink for Protein shakes/drinks? I still can't find a shake that I like, I need one that is not thick and easy to swallow.

I actually like Isopure...alot of people do not like them...I found the green apple one ok....they are sold at GNC and you can buy them now buy3 get1 free...and just try the flavors.....they are thin like a G2 gatoraid but thry do have a after taste...but its only 20 oz and 40 grams of protein! And I find them to taste MUCH BETTER since sx...my taste buds have changed so dont stock up on 1 kind of protein..im glad I had a variety bc the lean25 Ready to drink shakes were my FAV before sx...NoW I CANT DRINK THEM!!! They are too SWEET!!!

Had my preop appt yesterday and reviewed all of my labs, was so so happy that everything was good! Even my cholesterol was good! And I've lost 6.5lbs since the 7th :-)

I'm on day 5 of Protein Shakes and dinner and last night was the first night it was kind of hard. I just wanted to EAT! Lol

I didn't! Just had my salmon and broccoli and Water water water :-)

I agree with the other poster that shakes and carb cut back are good prep for the seriously reduced amount of postop calories. Adjusting to it now can only help afterwards.

Based on the suggestion above I bought 2 bottles of that Isopure today for right after surgery. I did buy the GNC brand of isopure in chocolate. It was pricy but tastes...dare I say it.....pretty good!

I too had my surgery on the 14th. I went home last night and it felt so good to be home. I didn't experience any gas pain or any physical pain that wasn't tolerable. I did have discomfort up around my diaphragm but everyone said that was completely normal. I was given some pain meds right after surgery in recovery but nothing but acetaminophen afterwards. I did have nausea and the dry heaves all the way up to the morning that I left. But that to has passed. I am glad that my experience has been fairly easy thus far and can only hope and pray for a smooth recovery the those going in later this month. Good luck to u all.

I'm scheduled for next Monday, April 28. In Chicago, at Northwestern, with Dr. Nagle. After six months of jumping through the different hoops of the Northwestern Bariatric Surgery program, it's finally happenning! I'm thinking of it as an early Mother's Day gift from me to my husband and kids: added years of having a healthy mother and wife around.

Good luck to all of you!

I am getting a little anxious now....hopefully I don't get cancelled for not losing a lot of weight. I'm down like 5 lbs.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
