Hello!

I have been lurking in the shadows reading post after post waiting not so patiently for my surgery..... I have finally been approved by my insurance co. United Health Care and my surgery will be Oct 5th. I am so excited and sort of nervous, I think that is pretty normal so I will hang tough and go for it!

My doctor is Micheal Johnell from Greeley Colorado, I have a 3 to 4 hour drive I will be having some lab work and psych evaluation done the 28th and 29th of this month, then as of Oct. 5th I will be banded!

I am happy to become part of this site, it will be nice to have people to chat with as I become a big loser! LOL

Wish me luck!

Maurine

Whatever you go through will be worth it! UHC denied me, I appealed, 8 months later, called the surgeon. He asked when did I want to set up the surgery. Woo, hurry up and wait! Best of luck to both of you!:D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
