liquids slide right through. You are fine!

Put your thumb and forefinger together to make an "O." That's about how big the passage is. Of course liquids can flow through easily. I was told that things like yogurt, applesauce, etc., will have the same effect -- they will flow through easily and as a result, you may become hungry somewhat quickly.

I was banded on the same day that you were. My doctor does things very differently than many here, I am finding. I was told to start mushies two days after banding. (I really could not stomach that thought until today though, when I started feeling very 'normal' and hunger resumed to a slight degree.) I have no idea why my doctor's office is so different. They just call themselves "progressive." LOL.

But you should stick with your own doctor's advice. I think you actually lose a lot of weight on the liquid diet, vs. those of us who start mushies fairly early, so that is one benefit.

Anyway, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Being able to consume a lot of liquid doesn't mean your band slipped. After all, they want us to consume about 64 oz of Fluid per day. They wouldn't recommend that if it would mean a possible slippage.

Hi there -

I too was banded on the 29th of march. I am on the mushie stage now without problems. I just take it slow.

My doctor has had the same diet for all his patients for over a decade now without complication. As long as one takes it slow.

I think you are fine. I believe you probably have healed up some, and your swelling has gone down giving you more room to feel hunger.

Let us know how things go.

I wish you well.

Here's a good mushy recipe:

1/3 cup refried Beans, mixed with a few tablespoons of Tomato juice & pureed

a small amt of finely shredded cheddar on top

a small amt of pureed salsa

Put the Beans on a plate and heat them in the microwave for 60 seconds (cover with a paper plate). Add the cheese and salsa. It's soupy and sloppy but it's tasty. Because we have to eat slowly, it gets cold fast and may need re-heating.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
