Tired all the time, anyone else having this?

Recommended Posts

I got my sleeve on 12-3-13. Initially I felt like I was run over by a truck but then I turned the corner and felt better. I've had good weight loss, 52 lbs but I am still tired most of the time. One would think loosing weight would bring more energy but that's not the case. I've been taking all my Vitamins and I give myself B-12 shots. Anyone else experiencing fatigue?

I had surgery on 12-27-13 and I was experiencing fatigue long before that. I too though that my energy levels would increase as I lost the weight. But it's still the same. I have waves of energy then come crashing down. I've been taking Vitamins, Calcium and B12 - I'll feel really good for a few hours afterwards, but then lose all my energy. I guess I need to go and have my blood tested, but I keep putting it off.

The only way I've found to keep my energy levels kinda even is to drink coffee with a little real sugar in it. I think the combination of caffeine and sugar being slowly released into my system stabilizes my energy levels.

According to my surgeon it's best to do lab work at the 6 mos. post op. I know I've gotta be deficient in something. I am going to see my PCP so maybe she can do some blood work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
