Thanks for heading this up. I've done the survey and am ready to join. I'm in Plano, so Irving is doable if the time is right. Thanks again!!!

Ok

Thanks for answering. Though it would still have been nice for Saturday and Sunday to have been included on the survey. What if most people had chosen Saturday morning? But that data won't be gathered.

I did not include the weekend days because I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. If her schedule changes in the future, maybe it's something we can look into.

Hi all!

I have volunteered to be a leader of the DFW chapter.

About me:

My name is Kris and I live in Irving with my husband and two sons, ages 10 and almost-5. I work full-time as a pharmacy technician in a call center. I go to school online full-time as well. In my spare time (what spare time?), I write a blog at BariatricCeliac.com. Eventually, I hope that my blog becomes a good resource for both Celiacs and those interested in bariatric surgery alike. I had gastric bypass on May 20, 2014, so I'm still pretty new to all this.

As you can see, I already keep pretty busy. However, I am passionate about being able to have people to lean on during all phases of their bariatric journey. Since our area is so large and since I am newer to the world of bariatrics, I would be thrilled if someone else would be willing to co-lead with me. One thing I love about Irving is that it is so centrally located in the metroplex. Would anyone be opposed to meeting somewhere in Irving?

I would love to hear any and all ideas about our meetings, and I can't wait to meet y'all! :)

Congrats (and thanks) for taking up the lead for the DFW chapter. Happy to get your meeting added to the DFW Support Groups meeting list that is circulated around DFW if you'd like, just let me know once you've determined a location and date(s) and time(s).

Looking forward to attending your first meeting!

I like the idea of breaking it down to areas, I live on the border of The Colony ,Frisco.... Where all the the construction is going on for that enormous furniture store.

There are several support groups that I attend in the NE Plano area. Near Allen, Frisco, Richardson. We have one guy that drives from Forney to attend. There's a group of us that have impromptu get togethers as well. Ten of us met today at an area Starbucks, we do things like this on a fairly regular basis. If you're interested, email me at curt_frisbie@msn.com and I'll add you to our list, I'll make sure you're included.

Has anyone thought about where we could meet? Restaurant, church, someone's home?

Has anyone thought about where we could meet? Restaurant, church, someone's home?

I'm kind of leaning more toward church, library, public school -- something like that which will be free or cheap. My own home is not large enough to host people... I'm not opposed to a restaurant, but it may be tough to find one with a separate room (that also happens to be bariatric friendly).

Hey folks.

Sorry it's been so long since you've heard from me. I went back to work on July 1st... forgot how busy my life really is.

Anyway, a grand total of 25 people submitted responses to the interest survey. The leading responses for days of the week to meet were Tuesday and Thursday. Most people want the meetings to start at 7:00 pm.

I haven't heard from our co-host in about six weeks. Maybe weekends are an option after all. How many people would prefer a weekend meeting?

Thanks for your patience with me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?
