I contacted PDXMAN in July and didn't get a reply. I am willing to work with a couple of people to make this happen. Who is in?

Melora - Where are you having yoru surgery next week? There are a few support groups in the Portland, Salem, Beaverton, Vancouver (WA) areas. We have talked about starting another one with the people in this group as well.

thoughts?

I am having my surgery at OHSU. I have attended a support group at OHSU. I would like to attend one that is not associated with the dept that is doing my surgery. Since I just found this website last week I am not sure what has been discussed but a simple meet up would be a place to start.

I am getting nervous. Went to my last class on Wed. and my endoscopy came OK. So now just waiting for the OK from my insurance and that can take 2 weeks. I want a support group close enough to go to so I can keep up the momentum. I think a library (as mentioned by another poster) may be a good idea and there is one in Cedar Mill area by Bales Thriftway.

Hey all....

Don't forget that Holiday Inns, Howard Johnsons and some of the hotels do have banquet rooms for meetings as well....

Just hoping to get some information on meetings from you. I am signed up for a monthly one through Kaiser but have yet been able to attend. I am north of Vancouver.

I'm in the Milwaukie area had the gastric bypass surgery on December 10th. Would love to participate in any activities out there for other WLS peeps pre or post op. I think it's important we support and mentor each other.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
