Hello! Peggums here...........

I'm post op RNY 5/8/2014... Just getting used to my inner newnesses...I'm also an RN who worked in outpatient surgery setting for many decades...but BEING the one having the surgery is way way different...HA! I learned a lot about the PAIN I didn't expect...I learned I was capable of getting thru it...but it got down to minutes...meaning how long it took for the pain med to help then finally ease up the pain....LOVE the little green button!(PCA)...I had more than one moment of complete anger at myself for not being able to control my weight my whole life and ending up having to have a surgery (which I really really wanted)...and also wondering...WHAT HAVE YOU DONE NOW!! Thankfully, that passed....time passed and I got home to recover without incident...but taking it easy ,too.

I really love the idea of local in-person support group. My Bariatric Facility..OHSU has a support group in Portland as well that I haven't gone to as yet.

I live about an hour north of Portland, in Silverlake,Wa and would love to know about any groups formed in the Southwest Washington area.

Thanks~P

Alex, I would love to coordinate a chapter in the Park Slope/Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens/Boerum Hill Area for Bariatric Pal. I have been organizing a similar meeting via MeetUp for about a year. We met in Manhattan. I can tell you there is a demand for face to face contact, and although they have tried, the medical community can't provide enough or the specific type of support that patient organized meetings provide. I am researching the certification you listed. Please let me know if I can help your efforts in any way.

Hi Carin,

That would be fantastic! We had our first meeting in Manhattan over the weekend. Wish you would have joined! It would be fantastic to get something started in Park slope etc. There are many many WLS patients in your neighborhood. As group leader it would be up to you to select a time, place and location. We've created flyers you can use to post at your surgeons office or any other groups you attend. Please post to the local support chapter topic and let them know that you'll be leading. I'll also provided you with access to the local chapter leader forums once you confirm you'd like to move forward.

Hi! I would love to start a support group in the Baltimore area; however, I'm not sure where to start. Also, I can't see/ find these threads on the app version. :-(

We'd love to have you running a Baltimore based support group. Here's more info on how to get one going:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
