I must say I am so grateful for your messages. I check my phone every half an hour to see if i have a new reply. Thank you thank you. I only get to see the nurse not the surgeon i need to call her and make an appointment. Does anyone have an idea on how to divide my 1200 cal a day between fat, carb and Protein? ( percentage wise) I tried to follow the rules today. Not bad for the first day. I have taken 76 grams of protein today and so far have had 6 glass of water( i normally have two glasses a day). I also walked 1 km( i know it is nothing but still got me moving). I portioned my food too. Still looking for a sweet protein packed Breakfast option. Any suggestions?

I buy my husband the natures own protein breakfast bars. He loves them cuz they don't taste like the typical Protein Bar.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. I downloaded my fitness pal app and am documenting anything I eat. I also have started drinking lots of water( something i never did before). I am just curious how many grams of fat can i have in my daily 1200 calories a day diet? How about carb and Protein?

I also contacted the SWLC and talked to the nurse. Getting a barium trst tomorrow to make sure the band's position is fine.

I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I will try to get exercising incorporated as well!

30 grams of fat a day. 60-80 grams of Protein. try to eat 20 grams for every meal, thats the easiest and it will keep you fuller longer. Your plate will consist of 3-4 oz of protein, 1/2 cup of vegetables and 1/2 cup of a starch.

What foods do you eat that have the highest fat grams.

Be careful about eliminating too much fat. Fat curves the hunger

I am now using milk instead of cream for coffee. Have a bit avocado with salad and eliminated 3/4 of the olive oil. Got 1% milk instead of 2% per cent.

Fat adds up, sadly Protein is hard to get in. I have decreased my fat consumption from 53 grams on tuesday to 39 today. So i think i am making progress.

Any suggestions on why lots of people use almond milk instead of regular milk? I compared the nutritional values( almond milk vs 1%milk) and 1% has better value

Almond milk is so good. The only thing is it doesnt have the Protein that regular milk has. I dont know if you have ultra skim milk, but it is really good and tastes just like 2% milk.

The only reason to replace it, would be the calories. You can always make up the Protein.< /p>

chubby1976 it sounds like you are moving forward I am so happy for you...lots of good advice on here so I have read...so I can only agree with what has been said. Get your provider involved with your progress and make sure all is well with your band...make sure you are getting in 60-80 grams of Protein, drink lots of Water and other non-calorie drinks (I like Protein Shakes and bars) they help me alot. I too am looking at getting some exercising in-due to some health issues...I am going to try to get it through physical therapy...then maybe with alittle more weight off I can start doing more. So hang in there...things are looking up right now for you. So many wise people on this site...glad you found us!!! Will be keeping you in my prayers...keep in touch okay?

this was how my doctor broke it down. 1000-1200 cal a day, 300-400 cal. per meal. 60 g of Protein. 20 per meal. 15-30g of carbs per meal, 5g of fat per meal. I didn't do sugar because my carbs were total carbs which includes sugar. and if I ate salmon or a really healthy Protein fat I didn't have to follow the 5g of fat per meal. 64oz of Water a day. remember protein shakes have 100 cal or more per serving. so make your protein come from food. protein first, salad or vegetables second and lastly carbs if you are still feeling hungry. a cup full of food per meal is about what your pouch can hold. I hope this is helpful

I was banded April 2012 and lost 80 pounds quickly. I didn't have a fill but I ate healthy and exercised. But then my son dropped out of my life, our dog had to be put down, my job became too stressful and my fibromyalgia went out of control. I have gained 50 lbs back and feel so alone and defeated. My husband and I relocated in hopes of helping me to relax. I've been on medical leave from that job and have decided to quit instead of trying to transfer internally to another location. I'm scared but know it's for the best. We just adopted a rescue dog and I can't wait for her to feel at home. Today I woke up feeling like it's time for me to regain control of my health. I'm tired of being defeated. I'm happy to know I can reach out on this site. I am grocery shopping tomorrow and spent today setting up my apps and getting my fitness gear together. Tomorrow will be the first I want to wake up happy and smile at whatever I can.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
