I'm 10 days post-op. Can I walk on the treadmill now? Or am I being ambitious?

What did your surgeon tell you? Mine said as soon as I got home I could walk outside or on the treadmill. The only limitation was no lifting over 10 pounds, no running, and no machines for 6 weeks.

I feel like the treadmill and the stationary bike have really aided in my weight loss.

I never asked and she said no lifting. So I think I will go for it. I may just call the nurse tomorrow.

The treadmill is fine as long as you don't over do it. I just made a desk/shelf for my treadmill to hold my laptop. I will be able to work. surf, and watch TV while walking..

I wasn't cleared for walking on the treadmill until 4 weeks. I was cleared for walking, but not on the treadmill.

You should check with your doctor before starting on the treadmill.

Yeah, my hubby and kids chimed in so I will be walking the track only until further notice! I tell you, since I had this surgery my 4 kids are involved in every move I make. It's kinda cute in an annoying sort of way.

My surgeon said the treadmill is OK as long as I don't go fast.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
