I should be having mine in June. I have one more appt after Monday and hope to schedule my surgery. does anyone know if they will go ahead and schedule the surgery while you are waiting for insurance approval?

They scheduled mines before approval and my surgery was approved 1 day before surgery

They scheduled mine 4 weeks before my surgery because i was afraid that my insurance was going to change and didn't want to have issues. as soon as my last nut visit it only took a day to get approved. good luck :)

I agree, they will go ahead and give you an attentive date, just for insurance purposes. My first date was the 20th, ive known my date since march, just got approved today and they pushed my date up to the 17th. on day approval.

I've made it to the 14 days left mark, it's all nerves and emotions from here. I am picking up all my Protein and supplements from the surgeon's office tomorrow. I am paying my dietitian fee as well. My insurance is picking up the tab for the surgery. I am getting so excited I can hardly sleep. Can't wait to be on the other side.

I have set a goal for myself to be 300 or below on the day of my surgery. I haven't started my pre-op diet yet, I am sure I can meet my goal by the end of the 14 days. My pre-op diet starts next Wednesday. I have pre-op next Thursday at the surgeon's office for 4 hours then I go to the hospital to do all their pre-op stuff. I am going to be real busy that day. I have never met my surgeon, but he is really well known in my area. So I am kinda nervous about meeting him. I did see him a few times when I was in respiratory therapy school. So I have seen some of his work up close.

I plan on getting the house cleaned up real good the six days between pre-op and surgery. I'm only supposed to be in the hospital one night, so to much destruction can't possibly happen with just my hubby and dogs at home alone one night. Of course, I could be wrong. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
