Hi- I am 9 weeks out and down 55 pounds. Every once in a while I get the uncontrollable chills at night when I lay in bed. Does this happen to anyone?

I am still colder even at almost three years out. Try wearing more clothes to bed and getting an electric blanket. The newer ones have sep. controls so you won't cook your partner.

I heat up my bed for 20 minutes before lying down now, or the shock is too much to bear! I also sleep under a down comforter, which would kill most husbands, but fortunately my guy weighs 140 pounds and grew up in the Caribbean. Yes me!

So you are in great company!!

Yes! I have this regularly. I now sleep in pants and long sleeves with socks. I also have a heating pad in my bed at my feet. That helps me stay warm.

Yes I'm six weeks post op and still do this. My doc explained to me that it's a combination to a side effect of anesthesia and a metabolic issue from the rapid weight loss. So it's kinda a double whammy. Mine got better for a few nights and I thought it was gone but happened again last night. It's not a very fun thing to deal with. First of all it's a bit frightening to me to wake up so uncontrollably cold to the point of severe shakes and it breaks my sleep pattern so I end up tired.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
