Was doing great. Had surgery oct 14 with a goal to lose 50 by 50. I turn 50 in May. Well I did better than that I hit 50 by Christmas! Boy was I so proud. So I set a new goal. Be in onesies by the time I turn 50. At the end if January that would have been 30 pounds. Thought this should be doable-3 months no problem. But watch out I have only lost 7 since then. Ugh. Y y y y y. I eat 3 meals a day, walk over 12500 steps a day according to my fitbit but I can't lose.

I have an appointment for a fill (hopefully) on Wednesday but I feel like I am going to have to argue with the PA to do it. I do feel like I eat more because I am not full. I only have 3ccs I my band. Oh boy- I think she's going to fight me in this. She RARELY fills and I think she will say to control my eating and I'm going to say if I could have done that I wouldn't have needed the band!

I was thinking the same thing.... Why have the band if you could control the amount of food you eat? Why wouldn't your PA or Doc or NP want to help you find your Green Zone? I'm sorry, but you shouldn't have to plead and beg for a fill.

I don't have good news for you!

You may have only lost 7 lbs since the beginning of the year, but you may have lost 15 lbs of fat and added 8 lbs of muscle? Losing fat is not a linear line on a chart. It seesaws with the food we eat and the exercise we do. Fitness is good but it can rob you of lbs lost. But again, it's a good thing.

10 lbs a month is usually much more than most any bander loses. Usually it's in the 4-8 lb range so you're pretty close to where you should be. It's so much easier the first 3 months post surgery to lose more weight but as we progress it gets harder. The math doesn't lie. 3500 calories equal one lb. You must burn 3500 more than you consume to lose 1 lb of fat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
