2 things that worried me the most.

Recommended Posts

Hi I've been reading a lot and watching you tube videos so I have been writing down things but there is so much out there. I should be sleeved on April 10, 2014. I started my liquid diet a little bit before the 2 weeks because I'm a slow loser, I have been drinking the Bariatric Advantage Protein drinks which aren't that bad, but I have noticed I get gassy :( this worries me because I work in an office full of people and I've been reading about the stomach rumbles and the uncontrollable gas after surgery. I have been using Gas-x strips. But I'm wondering if its the Protein that does this or the skim milk? Should I use Water instead of milk? What foods should i totally avoid after surgery so I don't get gassy? And my other concern is malnutrition. I'm such a picky eater already and to top that I suck at cooking. I need easy ideas. Thank you ...Can't wait to be on the losers bench.

I, too, was sooooo worried about the gas. I HAD NONE! Before surgery, I ordered lots of samples of Protein so that after surgery, I would have several to pick from. As long as you are taking your Vitamins and getting Protein in, you shouldn't have malnutrition issues. I don't eat a lot but I do make sure I get my protein in, both with real food and protein powders.

I mix Unjury Protein Powder with unsweetened almond milk and have not had gas or heartburn. Even the tiniest bit of milk makes me noisy. The almond milk and Protein powder might be helpful for you :) Good luck.

Thank You. I started taking Vitamins now pre surgery so I can get used to taking them. The Protein so far I've only tried Bariatric Advantage, I bought some premier Proteins that Im saving for after surgery. Which one is your favorite? Do you mix it with Water or milk?

That's a great idea! Is this in place of a Protein Shake?

The sweet Protein shakes got really old post-op, so I mixed unjury unflavored Protein powder in cream Soups, broth, mashed potatoes, etc. I found myself a little lactose intolerant postop, too. Greek yogurt and cheese are fine, but milk upset my sleeve a little. I love almond milk, but it doesn't have as much protein, so I switch to Lactaid milk and haven't had any problems.

As for malnutrition, you may be lacking in the beginning, just because of our limitations, but as you get farther out, your Vitamins and good food choices will be adequate. I have no doubt, despite my mass quantity of food intake, I probably was malnourished before surgery because I ate crap.

Thank you for the idea I will try the injury w almond milk. I tried Isopure drinks and I liked them. I would put 2 drops of crystal light in them and crushed ice and it's really good too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
