March 2014 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I am a new member and a new "sleever". My surgery was on 03/31/14. I was released home a few days later. So far, I have had very little luck in getting enough Water and/or Protein supplements in. Yesterday I only got about 4 oz of Protein Shake in all day. Throughout the day I did try to drink water too, and probably got in about 12 ounces. Today was slightly better with about 6 oz of protein shake. I just want to know if this is normal. I really feel like my stomach is so full that I can't possible put any more into it. My brother had the same procedure one week prior to me and is doing great. If he had these issues, he is not sharing them. I am on a full liquid diet until next week. Advice, please?

The frist 2 days I only got in 12 oz of protein & 4oz of water. I am now drinking 2 12oz cans of Protein Shakes. Try sipping 1 oz every 10 minutes.

It gets better, welcome to the losers bench.

Im going off liquids this fri had surgery march 28. Can I have a Peanut Butter n jelly sandwich I kno my dr said fri I can start grits n ricotta cheese with soft tomatoes any other food recommended?

No bread. I had mine the same day. I love pureed black bean Soup. And mashed banana with Protein Powder. If you want peanut butter you can get PB2. My nutritionist said that is the best option.

I'm 13 days post and have been doing really well until yesterday and today. I'm having a hard time keeping anything down including Water. Before surgery I had no issues with Protein Drinks, now even the smell preparing them makes me gag. Needless to say I'm having issues getting in my Protein requirements. Anyone have any suggestions?

For me it was slow and steady. I had surgery 3/20. Craving all the bad food that got me here. But I am ignoring it. MOve around, walk around, drink something every 10 min or so. and work on your protein. drink drink drink... but slow.

Today is day 10 for me and I had my first soft-boiled egg. It was yummy! I was able to eat it without any problems chewing well. In fact I did not feel full which is worrisome. What were your experiences?

Had my sleeve on 3-3-14, I'm post op day 20 and last wk I was re-hospitalize for dehydration. I've had it rough. I sleep a lot therefore I'm not eating like I should. It's hard. I'm still at the point where I regret it, but hoping it gets better. I go back to wrk in 3 wks so I'm hoping I get the hang of this in the next wk or so. Down 26 lbs since surgery, but not enjoying the weight loss bc I'm always sick. Please keep me posted on you guys progress

What were your symptoms of dehydration? I am not getting much fluids down still but feel fine...

Are any of you using a tool to journal your Protein and fluids? Hoping to find something specific to keep track.

RNC111 I'm using my fitness pal, I think it works great it keeps track of how much Protein, sugar, fat, sodium, carbs, ect. You can track your Water on there too it just doesn't show up on the daily summary.

Well I only know I was dehydrated by my horrendous headache that went to the neck of my neck and would not go away no matter what I took. I called my surgeon and his nurse told me that could be my problem to increase my fluids. I had to go to emergency cause it never got better. Had to have iv fluids. I am doing so much better thank god. Just dealing with horrible reflux.

OK March sisters, I hope all gets better soon. I was having burning stomach earlier this week. At my 3 week follow up, Dr gave me multiple options. I'm going with (and so far it's working) high dose Pepcid twice a day and a sip of Mylanta for quick relief. Just a small sip coats my gullet and does the job. Doc says this is very common and usually gets better in month 3. He also said I could take Zantac with the Pepcid, but my past experience with Zantac keeps me from trying this. There are other options for this and if you have the burn, you should address it with your Dr.

I try to keep a Water and another drink going at all times. Still need to get more Fluid, but doubling up has helped me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
