Anyone having surgery in May

Recommended Posts

Well look at it this way....savor every one of those "sucky" partial food meals because shortly you will be having liquids only :-)

I'm thinking my preop is liquid only to get me used to the fact that this is how it will be in a few short days longer.

Hang in there and eat one of those yummy things for me! :-)

Ok so I'm not completely without problems with my pre-surgery diet. I can have partial food, but these lean cuisines and smart one meals suck! Pardon my saying so. I don't think I cook bad just the amount of what I eat. Might have to lean on my doctors to see what other options are.

Oh, I'd love a Lean Cuisine right about now... I'm so hungry. :/

I'm kinda leaving it up to how I feel afterwards. The surgeon's office does six weeks but I think I might go crazy if I'm out of work for that long!

I am 8 days out from the bypass and I would take at least 5 straight days off. It's more about being tired. I was so tired and fell asleep easily. I am a person that never took naps before. I have had zero problems and so glad I had this surgery and I love my doc:)

I am having gastric sleeve May 29th, I start my two week partial liquid diet in two days. I am really starting to get nervous and feel so ill prepared. I have no idea what I should take with me for after surgery, and what kind of food I should have at home for afterwards. I need a surgery buddy any takers :)

Nicolej, did they not send you to a nutrition class or prep class? I have found great resources on then internet about examples of diets for each phase or other methods of food prep others have tried.

They sent me some links for some classes which I watched, but I just still feel so ill prepared. I guess I will have a nutrition class the day before my surgery. I have been looking online also and have found some sites that helped. I wanted to also get others personal experiences and advice, anything that will help me on this journey.

Hi Girls, First Thank you Jolene, Rome, Nicholej, Taking a leap, I'm jealous Jolene I just can't seem to get all my fluids with the little smooth food I take in along with all our Vitamins, meds (must never forget my prilosec and gas X first thing)etc. I'm constantly bloated. I try to walk it off so I can sip more but go back to being bloated and full. Nicholej I will be your buddy if you need one still. Love you all for your Kindness Kelly

I'm not there yet but all i've heard is the first process is slow. Take as much as safely possible but if it hurts stop and wait another time. Eventually everything doesn't last forever and reaching those goals will come in time. Don't get discouraged. Who knows I'll provably need this sane pick me up when ?I have my surgery.

Loveslavender I would appreciate a surgery buddy I do not have one yet.

I think coming here and talking about it will help. Not sure if this will help but I found this blog. Gives some great ideas on diet on each phase but I know doctors will direct you what to eat too. http://milestogo.squarespace.com

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
