Where's the April sleevers....

Recommended Posts

How did it go H.K. I was sleeved on the first of April also. I feel good now but had a rough time in the hospital.

Thanks for asking... I had my surgery on the 1st at Kaiser. The first couple of days I had to sleep on the couch, nearly sitting straight up! My bed is pretty high and I wasnt able to do the normal jump..lol. It does get better everyday however. Im currently on stage 2, full liquids. Isopure and Water are my challenges, whereas mint tea and greek yogurt are easily tolerated. The incisions are healing nicely, except the largest one ( they remove the stomach through there) its very sore and kind of has a pulling feeling if you do too much of anything. Vitamins and prilosec are done daily. I see the surgeon tomorrow for my post op appt. I continue to walk and be as active ( walking) as I can until I get cleared for full exercise...my current stats are:

6 days out of surgery

First day home from hospital.. 234 lbs

Today...222 lbs

Hello. I am a 46 yeah old man. My surgery is April 28. Starting pre-surg diet 4/13. 250 been gaining every since I first made up mind to do surgery. I was down to 218 in June and been having trouble due to some personal issues hoping that I will be able to get pass my creating issues with the help of therapy and may even have to go to counseling.

Good for you to acknowledging your issues and knowing you're going to work on them. That in itself is huge.

It's so weird seeing a lot of people having 2 week liquid diets and mine is only 5 days?

My surgery is scheduled the same day as yours....I start my liquid diet on thurs....I tried a day of all liquids....I definitely was crabby when it got to the evening....every doctor gives different recommendations....good luck BMW1092

Bigtosmaller - I'm picking up a few pounds myself. Been visiting my favorite restaurants saying goodbye to meals I enjoyed over the years. Also funny how family and friends want to eat meals with me before the operation. I think they are also mourning our restaurant jaunts. One more week left before I start the pre-op diet. I think I'll be alright, as I told my NUT, "if you write it down for me I will follow the directions to a tee". I guess I learned that from all the shopping lists my mom used to give me. .....:-)

Hi All. I was sleeved on 4/3 so i am 5 days post op and already down 15 pounds. Insane! I know if wont keep going this fast and furious, but its a nice way to start out. I have to tell you - they used some kind of numbing agent on my during the operation and i have not had to take a single pain pill. Yes, the incisions are tender (expecially if I cough), but not so much that i have needed to take anything. I am amazed by that. I am now just struggling with wanting to eat something. My MD said its best to do 2 weeks of Protein shakes post op. I have to admit that today i licked a few spoons of greek yogurt and I also tried hummus. Both went down easy and stayed down but i am going very slowly.... very slowly... sticking mostly to the Protein shakes. I am excited to embark on this journey! and I am excited for all the other April sleevers. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
