Yogurt and now a bit of pain?

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 days out. I had yogurt for the first time and I'm a little uncomfortable. Could I have done damage? I had 3 ounces over an hour and half. Ate with a baby spoon. Pressure and maybe a little painful in my left shoulder. Maybe too soon? I didn't thin it out with milk and maybe I should have but I've done well with puréed Soups. Thought I could handle it. :(

I doubt you did any damage but that does sound like a signal to back off for a bit. And I would say, when you try again, eat less. When I got started on purees I was only allowed 3 tablespoons of food per meal. Also, you may want to think about whether stretching out your eating over such a long period of time is a good idea. Were you given any instruction in that area? My surgeon restricts us to eating for 30 minutes, then we have to put it away until the next meal. He doesn't want us to turn into grazers.

Technically I'm on FULL liquids and puréed to liquid until next Wednesday when I can have real pureed. My instructions say that when I can tolerate 1/4-1/2 cup of something, I should start the no drinking liquids within 30 mins. The NUT said it was ok to try yogurt. I felt better within the hour of posting that. It's scary though! I don't ever get in 64 of fluids or 60 g of Protein. I might hit 40 again today. I'm just so sick of shakes!

I bought a Protein Powder that I mix with Water or milk. Recently I added a couple tablespoons of half and half to the water. It taste better than just milk with a lot fewer calories and carbs. I like it because it's thinner than the shakes and seems to settle better. One scoop is 30gr of p and I can get it down in about ten min. It's called platinum hydro whey if anyone wants to try it. The cheapest place to get that I found was vitaminshoppe.com. Serving for serving it's about the same as premier shakes

If the pain is going into your left shoulder it sounds like gas pain from surgery. Try going for a walk

It did get better after I got up and emptied the dishwasher.

That's great! I know at this point the last thing you want to do is exercise but a 10min walk does wonders

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
