My Consult and date!!

Recommended Posts

WOW

I had my phone consult with Dr. Cobourn this afternoon. I had been nervous and excited and wondering most of the day as I waited for his call. When he called he asked how I was doing and I told him that I was nervous and excited, he replied "Well lets see if we can make the nervous go away." What a nice way to start. He answered the questions I could think of to ask and asked me a few more. He was very positive and said that he honestly felt that this was the best way to go and the safest too. That he can see this being a surgury that could be done more than RNY in the near future.

What happened next I didn't expect.....

I will be having my band on May the 30th! I am still blinking and shaking my head...lol I feel so very blessed to be getting in so soon.

WOW... :omg:

It is so exciting. I am very happy for you. Just imagine yourself in May of 08!!! I started feeling skinny when I had only had my surgery. I had to remind myself oh yeah I still have to lose the weight. lol

Yippe Leslielee!!!

That is exciting. I was also thrilled when I got my date. Dr. Coburn sounds like he gives good phone consult. Very reassuring.

Welcome to the wait (weight) club!

Awesome LeslieLee! I have my first appt on April 12th and am going nuts just waiting. I am really hoping to have my surgery in July/August. I have met almost all of the requirements by my insurance except 5% weight loss before hand and the psych eval ;) which I am sure will be a breeze:faint:

Hearing your news gets me so excited!!! I can't wait:clap2:

Great news Leslielee. I have my surgery with Dr. Cobourn on May 9. I think he is a really good surgeon. I was also so excited when he gave me my surgery date and I was also very nervous. Suddenly it felt so real. The time will fly for you and before you know it May 30 will be here. I'm so happy for you!

I really noticed the time flew after I started my pre-op diet, which was good.

Congrats on making the first step.

Why do you think it costs $200. Still cheaper than phone sex. Not that I would know.....really.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
