You will eat (most) anything you want after surgery, just not as much. That being said, I had a steak and cheese sub for my last supper. Good luck!

I went on a eating tour of Chicago before I started my liquid diet. I had and enjoyed everything I could but I also analyzed what I ate and why I ate it and learned quite a bit. I enjoyed the pizza and Italian beef sandwiches but I admit I was over consuming. The thing is I never really abused those on a regular basis, those were every now and then choices. When I did my last McDonald's meal I had quite a revelation, fast food is crap I shove in my mouth because it's easy. It's easy to get away for lunch and spend time mindlessly eating during the short time I have. When I sat and really thought about the quarter pounder, fries, coke and apple pie, nothing really had any taste other than the salt from the fries. I was glad I went through that process because it made the 2 week liquid diet that much easier.

I had a small steak, sauteed mushrooms, and asparagus. Not something I couldn't eat again and I have had it several times. I tried to think of something I wouldn't be able to eat after surgery and nothing sounded worth it. I might have gone out for Mexican food if I had someone to go with.

As soon as I had my last weigh in that "counted' for approval, I WENT NUTS. I was eating non-stop for FIVE WEEKS. I gained back all of the 23 pounds I lost in the 5 months prior. I lost half of it in the liquid diet before surgery. I do not regret a single bite--- because honestly, I learned a lot about why I overate and how much I wanted to find alternatives to eating to deal with emotional pain and stress. Just one meal? HELL yes! Go ahead!

I had food funerals - I didn't go crazy, but for the two weeks prior to my liquid diet, I went to restaurants that I thought I wouldn't be able to go after surgery. Fast forward to today, 4 months after surgery and I don't even want to go to those places. The thought of sitting down to a huge bowl of Pasta actually makes my stomach hurt.

The day before surgery I met with my doctor and he said, "Go out and have a nice dinner with your husband. No restrictions other than don't eat a lot of red meat." I thought he was joking after two weeks on a liquid diet. He assured me he wasn't joking. My husband and I went to macaroni Grill and had a wonderful dinner - appetizers, bread, Pasta, and even dessert. The funny thing was, I didn't eat that much. I sampled everything and totally enjoyed the evening and it had very little to do with the food.< /p>

I'd suggest having your favorite dinner before you start your liquid diet, but don't look at it as a funeral or saying goodbye to your favorites. Because the truth is, you'll be able to eat just about anything (in moderation) post surgery. At four months out, I can eat anything - nothing bothers my stomach and I have no restrictions. I eat a fry every once in a while and I have had chocolate. Just nowhere near the quantities I had pre-surgery.

Best of luck to you!!!

I did, I went to a nice Italian restaurant loaded up on carbs like pizza, calamari, fresh bread and Pasta. I didn't eat a whole bunch just a few tastes of everything.

Am I the only one that wants to have a last meal before I start my liquid diet? Nothing crazy just my favorite meal since I know I will probably never have it the same way or enjoy it has much again?

True, you will never have your favorite meal the same way again but not true at all that you will not enjoy it as much. In fact, once you are happier with your size, you may find that eating less of your favorite meal will allow you to enjoy it more. I know it does for me. I love food and will always love it. But I also love eating small portions of it and having all the pleasures of being nearly half my size when I started this journey.

I am so happy to have all these responses! I am going to south beach right now to try a burger place called shake shack.. Look online at pics this place should be good. I have never been one that liked fast food to begin with it actually makes me sick. I think if I didn't over eat and exercised I wouldn't be over weight... Anyways I can't wait to start the liquid diet on weds and begin this new chapter of smaller positions and exercising. In my mind I'm a runner so I plan to actually make that happen! If anyone comes to Miami hit me up for a tour guide!!! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
