WAY TO GO TwinMommy........... I am so happy for you.

The scales are not moving for me very much. I had a little tummy bug yesterday. Was not able to eat much, just broth and SF pop cycles. Got on the scales thim morning and ..... nothing lost. OH well, I just keep reminding myself, this is for the rest of my life!!!

I still can't get my pictures to post, but my avatar picture is from two nights ago when we went out for our anniversary.

NSV- My husband said we were walking to the table at Texas Roadhouse and we walked by a table and he saw some guy look me up and down. He said it was the wierdest feeling. He's not use to that, neither am I. He said it was a guy a little older than us (not some old gross dude). I was flattered!

Hey gang! I haven't posted in awhile. Everyone is doing so GREAT! I'm truely impressed with everyone's success! As of today I'm weighing in around 171 lbs. Down 65 lbs and man does it feel good! Wearing a size 14 jean comfortably. Been overweight for 7 years (since 2nd kid was born). So it's feeling good to get back down near my "normal" weight. Still wanna lose more. Want to be at my goal weight before or by my 1 year anniversary. I think I can do it. Just 20 - 25 more pounds for me. I bought some size 12 capris that are already out in the stores. I could get them on but they were snug and I had the 'ol muffin top. Need to lose another 10 or so pounds before I'd feel comfortable wearing them in public. But I should be able to do that by the time the weather gets to where I'd want to wear them. Well, that's it for me. Take care! -Rachel

Manatee...

WOW!!!! You look like your much younger, much skinnier brother...cool!

Twinmommy...

Onederland!!! Such a huge milesstone...CONGRATS!!!

Sandra...

Sounds like Water weight to me...how's your salt intake or maybe TOM? It sould drop off as quick as it came.

Everybody...Isn't it amazing to feel normal!!! Sometimes people stare, but it's because I've changed so much, not because I'm the "elephant in the room". I still stare in the mirror...somebody pinch me!

Just wanted to share a "MOMENT" I had this morning. I get to work and put up my stuff, turn on computers then I walk across the street to Starbucks for my morning addiction. I usuall cross at the cross walk, but this morning there was some road construction so I had to cross in the middle of the street. Well on my way back same situation...but we have glass windows through out the building and I saw myself walking from across but didnt recongize myself. The closer I got I realized it was me.....I actually looked normal.....not a big girl....just tall and normal. I am not gonna say skinny...because I know I am not that, but I looked NORMAL. I am wearing a size Medium shirt today and my size 14 pants are falling off. I feel sooooo blessed.

on a more funny note.....I have always worn the Lane Bryant panties....hey they are comfy and dont ride up. Well lately when I sit down the panties slide down and when I get up I have to pull up my pants and my panties. Well just like all of you I have clothes, bra's, panties in all sizes. I had to give up my LB size 14 panties. So today is cute panty day!!!! LOL!!!! My husband saw me getting dressed this morning and said.....hey...who are those for???? I said just for me!!!

LOL!!

Moments like that are great. It is like we have a "fat girl" mentality. I may become addicted to shopping because for so long nothing fit, and I would over-buy for my kids to compensate. Now I buy for me.

I bought some misses 18s last night at Ross! MISSES! We are so blessed to live in a day and time where we have great tools like the band. Sometimes I catch myself freaking a little when I get rid of stuff. Like what if I get big again??? Like I said-fat girl mentality.

It sure is hard to keep the shopping to a managable amount. For so long I've bought pretty much anything that I could find to fit, now I've got to be much more picky. I still want to buy everything that fits, which really gets me in trouble...so much fits! Lately I've been staying out of the stores, it was justs getting out of hand. On the high side, it is easier to find thing on clearance sales, with so many more options. I ussually don't have to pay as much for what I want/need. I do need to find some new jeans, I've always bought the same style from Avenue, but I'm in the 14's now and that's a low as they go...such problems...LOL

Sandra...

I can totally relate to the pantie thing, mine look like clown bloomers by the end of the day...time to buy some new ones.

Sue and Sandra....I am telling you to go thong, you will not regret it!!!! Or even better are the cheeky panties. They are so comfortable and feel so sexy!

Now that we can....I say cute panties for all!!! No more Granny Panties!!!!

I have a saddlebag issue...so that part of my body doesn't exactly feel sexy (yet). I tried the "cheeky" panties, and it just felt like I was displaying my worst attribute...some day (probably after a visit the plasstic surgeon)! I feel better if I concenrate on other "angles" where things are looking a little more attractive. I feel fantastic when I stand in my bathroom mirror...it shows me from the hips up...LOL!

Sue....don't be so tough on yourself!! I am sure you look great. I am not saying that I look good in a thong...they are just very comfortable and anything is better than the bloomers I was wearing!!!

I have no clothes!

I just went through and tossed everything with an "x" in the size, anything that didn't fit, etc. I thought I had lots of clothes, but it turns out I really don't own anything at all.

I have six (6) 39 gallon bags full of clothes headed to the Goodwill.

A good problem I suppose. Now I need to develop a style, instead of just buying the only thing in the store that fits.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
