Dmawl,

Welcome and what a fantastic job you have done with the help of the band!

Sandra, I am so looking forward to 2008! Can you believe that you are only 19lbs above your desired wght! how crazy great it that!

Sue11, you made my day with your Frosty cartoon! You have a great sense of humor!

Now, how did everyone do over christmas? I admit it right here and now that I suck. I ate entirly too much! I ate so much that at 10pm last night I had to force myself not to go back to the kithchen for more! Felt like the old days. But, I didn't and I am determined to get back on track today. I ate a very light Breakfast (yogurt) and am going to have a pretty light lunch...leftovers. If I touch a sweet I swear I will somehow send myself to my room! I will be soooo grounded!

Blessings all, Weazer

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope everyone had a nice Holiday and enjoyed themselves. I also ate too much. Well, not exactly too much, but what I ate was not so great. Too much picking!!

Take care everyone.

How's everyone doing with the exercise and Water? Not so good again here. With the preparation for the Holidays, pretty much the water and exercise were not here. That is now changing. I will go running tonight and hopefully live to talk about it tomorrow, and I will drink all my water today and everyday. Wish me luck!! Today is another day.

I just looked at my WL record and was so surprised. My goal from Thanksgiving throught Mid-Jan was to not gain (what a wimpy goal). I had Thanksgiving, my Birthday, Christmas, New Years and a cruise all in about 7 weeks. I looked at my record and I've lost 9 lbs since Thanksgiving! I'm so shocked!

I need to start setting tougher goals for myself, I'm just so paranoid to set a challenging goal. In the past I would feel so defeated when I didn't reach my goal and it would push me toward giving up, so I stopped setting goals. I guess there's still a part of me that doesn't belive that I'm strong enough. An entire life-time of struggling with weight and failing really messes with your self-esteem. Time to believe in myself (and my BAND!!!)

OMG! No Water these last 4 days off!!! I am terrible!!! Exersize....NONE either!!! I am in such a slump!!!! I know I didnt eat as much as I would of before the band....but I ate more than usual and ate lots of desert!!! I am a fool for some desert!!!! I think I need more fill.....the past months I ate sooo little because my band reminded me to stop, and know I can keep shoveling it in without a reminder. I am going to call my doctor right now!!!! I am now drinking my H20 too!

Mini, I dont meant to correct you but I am 17 lbs from goal....but it feels like I am never gonna get there....I have had NO weight loss since October!!!! Just loosing and gainning the same 3 or 4 pounds. At the rate I was going 3 months ago I should of been at goal already!! I am very frustrated with myself....and I cant get back on the band rules or the water or the excersize....I guess I am burnt out!!! I need help but I dont know what to do....now that I went back and looked at my weight chart 2 months is a long time not to loose anything. I just want to atleast see the 170's. UUUGGGG!! I just want to cry!!!

Happy Holidays everyone!!

Glad to see everyone is doing well... and NOT GAINING OVER THE HOLIDAYS!! ... that was my goal.. not to gain. So far so good..

I had several major meltdowns yesterday... depression is kicking in something fierce. My grandfather passed away back in 2003...and going to my grandmoms house for Xmas without him there is always a rough time.. add in TOM (aahh.. yes, mother natures cruel Xmas present) and PRESTO!!! Instant meltdown time for Melissa.. I'm still trying to snap out of it.. but its been really rough this time around. So far I've held it together today.. I had off and me and my 15 year old brother in law went out to lunch and to a couple stores..and now we are back at the house making dinner. No Water today.. nothing "good for me" .... just trying to make it thru the day....

BTW... anyone get anything good for Xmas? I got a new Ipod (can't wait to take it to the gym) and some gift cards (which I used some of one of them today to buy new pots and pans...)

urgh. NOW I remember why I got the band. Totally blew it over the past few days and rocketed back into the 190s. Now I'm headed off to vacation, so I'll leave the scale behind and worry about all this when I come back. I have a fill scheduled for the 10th, so hopefully that + eating correctly + a return to the gym will kick me back to the right direction.

Goal in 08!

I am afraid to get on the scale.....lots of junk over Christmas! What a slippery slope, one bad choice leads to another!

Today....I will stay on plan!

I did get lots of compliments from family members who have not seen me since the summer. My MIL on the other hand only said "that outfit is slimming"......not the fact that I have lost 61 lbs!!!! If I could have bought an outfit that would make me look 60 lbs thinner...I would have! She will just not give a good compliment, usually back handed ones! Oh well its her issue, not mine!

NSV....new clothes for Christmas without an X anywhere. I still look at them and think....thats not going to fit and then I am shocked when it does. It actually brought tears to my eyes!

Happy New Year everybody.....one more eating fest to get through! Good Luck!

Metal-

Don't ya just LOVE those complements? I agree.. some outfits look better than others but NO outfit is good enough to hide 60lbs?!?!?! She's just jealous!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
