Started my pre-op diet today and it is harder than I thought. Feeling drained and unsure of myself. I am seriously questioning my decisions. Why did I let my weight get this out of control?! For those who think wls is "the easy way out"...just suck it!

I am sorry you have a pre op. That's no fun. You will be fine!

I did not have a pre op and to this day I say it is the easiest best thing I have ever done.

It would have been impossible to lose 120 lbs in 13 months and I lost it and have maintained and continue to lose by not doing anything but listen to my body and give it what it needs.

Thanks guys. I know this is the right decision. I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Taking it day by day. I will get better right?

I started my pre-op yesterday. It is hard, but we can make it.

I started my pre op today also. It is ROUGH!! This is definitely not the "easy way out". I have been through starving sensations, nausea, light headedness, doubt, and body temperature problems today from not eating. Day one down… 13 to go. I am still waiting on my approval. I will cry if I go through this pre op and don't get approved. Please say a prayer that my approval goes through!!

The first few days of a pre op diet that is basically Protein is difficult ..headaches, tiredness, irritability .. Just hang in there. You will be happy with yourself ..I did have to do a pre op diet. However, I lost 10 pounds right before my surgery. Keep yourself busy ..an idle mind can be dangerous at times. Wishing u the best.

"Easy way out", HA, that's gotta be the funniest thing I've heard in ages.

My father told me that "the surgery is bullsh*t, I'm taking the easy way out and if I get it he doesn't know if he will talk to me". Thank god my husband and family are supportive!

It's not the easy way out. We make some big sacrifices in giving up a lot of things we really love. It's tough sometimes to make the right choices in food. Having a little pouch does make it easier as far as no more overeating, but junk food still calls my name. This process takes some willpower, but having the pouch as a tool makes it possible to succeed. It seems the sleeve is just misunderstood.

That is exactly the reason I told very very few people. You still lose all the weight through diet and exercise, the surgery just allows you to do it in a more efficient and effective manner.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
