Anyone know if the magic bullet cups are microwave safe? I don't see anything written on them about it and can't find my paperwork that came with it. Would be nice to be able to puree Soups and then just microwave when I got to work.

yes, I just got one and the recipe book says you can put the cups in the microwave to heat the fluids. I haven't put them in my dishwasher because I have a Miele and it heats up really hot (but cleans EVERYTHING!) and I'm afraid it will ruin the cups and/or blades. Anyone else tried it in a European dishwasher?

Well, the up side of not being able to eat it all at your outing was now you can have it again as left overs. I wanted some Cereal so bad this morning, hubby was eating it, but I sat with my Protein shake and was a good girl. I've been coughing alot, getting crap up out of my lungs and of course when I have phlem in my throat I gag so I'm a little paranoid I'm going to slip my band, but I can't help the gagging...it just happens. I hope all this crap gets out of lungs soon....oh and I remember someone mentioned diarrehea (sp?)...so how long is that lovely experience going to last? Started this morning and really hoping it's not too long cause it's WAY annoying.

I feel your pain.... I too have a overly active gag reflex. I also have allergies and it causes a great deal of congestion and mucus. The best thing to do is to cough it up. Also ask your doctor if you can take some Congestion thinning meds... Mucinex is way to large of a pill or i would highly recommend it. It is what i used prior to surgery. Also, you may have a lactoss ot milk allergy causing you excess mucas. You might want to try a soy or rice based milk for your shakes.

I dont drink shakes for that reason. I have been getting my Protein from Isopure liquid. There are several flavors to chose from as well.

I am still on a all liquid diet... so the diarrehea started for me this morning. My first BM since 3/29. However, it seems to happen when i am going for a walk, or am sitting up for a long while.

Annoying it is, but it will past once we get on more solid food.

I hope this helps some....

Wish you well

Autumn

Happy Monday Everybody!!!

Welcome Afrykanvyolet and to ALL our newest March Bandsters! Thanks for joining us!

Oh Scarlett, I am so sorry to hear that. I have read about others with port infections and I believe it is easily cleared up by taking antibiotics. That could be one reason why some are given antibiotics right after surgery. I did not receive an antibiotic after surgery and getting an infection was one of my concerns. Everything should be OK. Please let us know how you're doing.

I just had to applaud :clap2: Mrs. Husker and SGDodge for posting your before pics on the before and after thread. Good for You! I took pics before surgery, but I should have taken some with less clothes as well to really see the difference in my body. I can't wait to see how you two change over time.

I am the same way. getting enough Water and fluids in is important. I take miraphen-- its a combination of sudafed and guiaphenesen (mucinex) every 12 hours. Big pill, but I can swallow it now.

DEM I am with you, my swelling has gone down but my appetite has crept up.

I can't believe how much of my life revolved around food. My DH and I went shopping to a city about 2 hour away. Normaly we plan where we will go for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Life just isn't all about going to places and eating things, this is so hard but I now realize what a problem I had.

Then I am a shopaholic for cloths, don't want to buy them if my size is dropping.... My day in the city was not really fun:cry.

But it will be once I am down and can buy new cloths.

My DH is overweight, it may be my imagination but he seems to be eating for both of us now.

I know he is also suffering from this radical lifestyle change.

If anyone gets cable there is a show on discovery health called Super size surgery.

This show has been dealing with mostly lapband stories, following people as they have the surgery, change their lifestyle, and have plastic surgery for the sagging skin. It has been very good.

Thanks Tammyj. I really debated on doing it and almost went back and deleted it. You really don't realize how big you are until you see yourself in pictures. I wouldn't want anyone I see everyday to see those photos though.:omg:

Hello Everyone

I am doing great! I was banned 3/1/07. I had my first fill on 3/26 and I was feel a little sad at first because it felt like the seperation from food was sealed with the fill and I was saying bye to my old relationship with food. But I talked to my mother and she is such a inspiration in my life and we discussed all of thr benefits that I have already reaped and the the exchange that I am having as far as lifestyles is concerned.

So it is a journey for sure and I am taking it one step at a time and I will allow my self to experience all of the different emotions the goes along with this process.

I am feeling so hopeful and inspired.

I'm loving my band!!!

I think I have a bit of a stomach bug. :sick

Yesterday I just wasn't hungry and then late last night I was uncomfortable due to bloating and some reflux and also gas. This morning I was running a low fever and more gas. I took my morning pills with some activa yoghurt cause I didn't want to put them in an empty stomach. I'm all gurgly. And I'm gassy from both ends. I just took some gas X. That usually helps. I took a bit of kaepectate too this morning to help and it did.

Right now I'm at the point where any tummy problem makes me initially think of the band and speculate on the chances of something having gone wrong with it-- like a slip or something. I realise that the chances of that are pretty low. And its not I'm throwing up or anything else I would think is a sign of a slip. To me I have all the signs of a mild stomach bug-- just like the sort of thing I might get pre band. So I'm going to take it easy today and work on getting better.

TM1019,

My dr had me on Clear Liquids with Protein Shakes. After 10 days I told them I couldn't do another Protein Shake and they let me start on to full liquids (blended soups). I am hopeing that by April 5, my post op check, I can go onto mushies.

I did find a Campbell's Healthy Choice (it think that is what is was) Soup called Italian Wedding Soup. Man was it good. My DH had some (blended) and he loved it also. But split pea is my all time fav.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
