Dose anyone know what will happen if you jump stages in your diet plan to fast. I'm only 6 days out of surgery and feel like I'm getting so bored with the full liquids. I just started yesterday and feel like I'm eating the same things every time I'm hungry. Don't know how I'm going to last another 5 days. There's only so much yogurts, Tomato Soup, ice pops and jello/pudding I can eat.

I wouldn't recommend progressing faster than your surgeon advised you to. If you had the sleeve, you've just had your stomach cut up the side of the organ, and it needs serious TLC to heal. Boredom is a small price to pay to have a safe recovery. You can make it, I promise!

Boredom is one thing; having your stomach's staple-incision line bust open, break down, become infected, and you totally jack up what you just went through is another.

Patience. This too shall pass. Focus on the bigger goal: a thinner, healthier you...hopefully without (self-induced), or any, post-op complications.

Seriously, you could get a leak or a food particle caught in your staple line or any number of problems. I know it sucks but, really, it's only five more days. If you're wanting to give up this soon out you're gonna have nothing but issues moving forward.

I'm so glad. I wasn't trying to imply that you were, I remember well how hard that post op period is. Just don't chance it. A month from now it will be a non issue. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
