This is great! I'm heading into surgery Wednesday--scared to death I won't do this right. But, I really get it--this is a body-thing that heals and gets stronger and starts to feel normal again...eventually. Thanks so much!

I am on day 3. Looking forward to the first month.

I am 23 days and still lack energy. The Vitamins make me nauseated. Got some B complex with B12 nasal spray. That's all the vitamins I am getting

Went back to work after 4 days, too soon, but can't afford not to work

I can drink Water and tea without problems

No weight lost in a week...ugh. Not exercising yet. Really need to work in that but Houston is hot as hell this time of year

Would live more updates from you as you're a week ahead of me

Energy needed too !

Thanks for the encouragement !!

This is one of my most favorite threads. My surgery was March 13 and it seems like eons ago. I've lost about 70 pounds (including preop), life is so good. The first month is hard but it gets so much better! Good luck to all those starting out.

I'm at 2.5 weeks out and really hovering between feeling great and a sudden loss of energy that knocks me back. I don't have pain and never used a heating pad or slept in the recliner but did have an extra pillow to hug to me for the first week while I slept.

My doc and nut had me off liquids after a week and on to mush but I keep having to dial myself back when I feel really good and do too much, eat too much, etc.

Working from home has been the biggest benefit in helping me recover and work. I have a lengthy commute and can't afford to suddenly be drained of energy when driving.

Good summary on the first month though. Early days are iffy and then OK and I look forward to hitting the one month mark!

I'm 2 weeks out and have been feeling pretty good. Just started soft foods today. I've lost 11 lbs but at a 5 day stall so far. Battling Constipation and never had that problem before. I'm glad to see stall is normal because their is no way I can't lose weight taking in 600 cal a day. Your post was my 2 weeks and I feel encouraged that things get better. It's depressing to be on liquids and not see any scale move. Glad there is hope that eventually it will move.

On day 4 (post-op) and have spent the past 3 hours trying to get through a Protein Shake (I'm a little over halfway there at best). Glad to know I am not alone in my struggle and that I'm not a complete failure!

Im 4 months out and just wanted to let you know it will get better each day for you. stalls are just part of it and even though they are depressing just stick to the program and your weight lose will start again. as to Constipation , drink lots and lots of Water if you are having trouble getting it all down, a little trick is take a shot glass , set a timer for 15 mins and every 15 min drink a shot glass of water.. it works pretty well.just remember to sip . i hope i have helped, good luck with your new life.

Great thread thank you!

I too am lacking in energy 2 weeks and a couple of days post surgery

I am glad a lot of people struggle with drinking the fluids

No pain for me after first 4 days-I was able to sleep on my tummy again

Cant drink Protein shakes so eat a lot of high Protein soft foods and I found a great tuna mousse which I added beneprotein to and it tastes fantastic.

Beneprotein has no taste and can be added to anything 6gms protein with each scoop

The fatigue can last 3 mo's so listen to your body and rest if you need to. This is MAJOR surgery and it takes time to heal and your body to get used to the new sleeve.

. I'm 4 mo's out and the fatigue is gone. If I get tired I take a short nap. Take one day at a time, follow Dr's directions and know you will be feeling great in a short time. Read a lot of the past posts and you will get a lot of information on how others handled problems. Don't worry about the weight not coming off fast enough for you. Even 4 lbs a mo is 48 lbs in a yr. Stalls happen so just keep on keeping on and they too will pass.

I had pretty severe fatigue - I mean it's sort of SHOCKING how badly fatigued you are at first. But at 3 months, I'm not exactly full of energy all the time, but in general, I'm much more energetic than I was 70 pounds ago. I just visited family in MI that live on a lake. I rode bikes and kayaked several times. My sister was amazed at how much more active I was on this visit. I still feel the low carbs at times but the oppressive fatigue will go away eventually. At least for me it has.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
