Well today's the day!!

For some reason I'm more nervous about this than the WLS.

We are in the middle of a snow storm. Schools are closed which gives me less to worry about. My kids will be safe indoors.

Surgery at 10... I'm supposed to be discharged by 3 barring any complications.

Please send positive vibes!

Vogue,

Today is going to go fine. Before you know it you will be out of surgery with your new tummy and on your way home. I will be thinking about you at 10am.

I must admit I can completely relate to being more nervous about this surgery than the VSG. Just know you are not alone.

Thanks CBT. for the most part I am Here's my 48 hour post-op update. Surgery went well. Started a lil late. I was wheeled into OR at 11. gave me something to relax at 11:06. Last I remember seeing on the clock was. 11:11:11. I woke up in recovery and boy do they rush you out of there. I was home by 4pm Pain isn't bad at all and if forced to, I could've come home without the oxycodone that was prescribed. There is no pain at my incisions. I have some pain at both hip bones ( was not a bit of fat there, can't even pinch the skin) ....I have 2 drains which are virtually painless. They do feel a lil funny when they are getting stripped Dr says I can shower today but I've decided against it. Sponge bedside baths until the drains come out. The right drain is hardly having any output. The left is getting less than 20 CCs every 8 hours. I'd advise anyone getting this or similar surgery to get that upper body strength up. You will use those chest and arm muscles a LOT, more than you can imagine. I, in an effort to stay hydrated before and after surgery, have been drinking massive amounts of fluids. That has led to hourly trips to the bathroom. This is where pain meds become your friend. Still not in pain but after up and down and twisting to get out of bed, my skin felt like I had rug burns. Last night I took. 2 pills at bedtime and the feeling wasn't as bad and I was able to go back to sleep easily. I work night shift so my body click is quite off. I'm gonna have hubby take pics today. He took pre-op pics already. I know I'm still pretty swollen...

I was 145.6 when I was naked on bathroom scale 2 days ago. Today 144.4 with drains and PJs on. I forgot to take waist measurements before. I'll check my records for January to see what they were then. Not much has changed with my body since then

I don't know if anyone is even reading this... But it's almost 72 hours post-op. I took off all my clothes for DH to take pics after I bathed. even with the swelling, I'm amazed at how I look.

My tummy is rock hard which is weird... I know it will relax as it heals.

My right drain has had no measurable output in more than 24 hours. I just emailed the Dr to ask is it ok to leave in place til next Wednesdays appointment. I also have 1 stitch that is a ill puckered. Not sure if it's due to swelling or not.

I took a percoset at 8pm despite not being in much pain. I spent most of yesterday sitting up on the couch and did a lot of twisting & turning to stay in comfy positions. I was concerned I'd be sore in bed. I slept well for the most part.

I weighed myself naked. Put drains on a hook on the door trying to not have them in the measurement. It was 143.8. Not too bad if I say so myself.

I'm reading! I'm going to see the plastic surgeon Wednesday for a consult. I have lost 112 lbs and am about 25 lbs from goal. The panni is really driving me crazy. It's so uncomfortable. Hope I can get it removed soon.

I just got sleeved and still have 125 pounds or so to go and I ALREADY had a panni from pregnancy. It's already worse with 40 pound weight loss. I can't imagine how much worse it's gonna be. Vie already told my husband I'm having it done when I'm all done with this. It's so annoying. I'm glad it went well! How long will you be off of work?

Dr says. 4-6 weeks. I could probably go back in 4 but if my job lets me, use the last 2 to get some spring cleaning etc done

Thanks and yes it's exciting. Now if only I can find a cure for cabin fever during this recovery. March Madness and Netflix aren't enough

Drains are bothering me today. Not hurting, more like irritating and itchy kinda burning. Not sure if it's because nothing is coming out of them anymore or because feeling is coming back in those areas or something else or some combo of them all. What I do know is if they accidentally happened to get yanked out, I won't fret

I used a lot of ice for the burning. I think it's nerve irritation. Mine went instantly away as the drains were pulled. If you try ice let me know if it helps you. I'm curious.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
