:( I started reading this book on gastric bypass (well its more of someones experience) she even includes details about her emotions. and i read somewhere there are phases or something?? anyways. My favorite snack in the whole world is popcorn. I have a cheapie little air popper, and a popcorn bin from the movie theater (that we kept and wash out) i pop popcorn into it and add popcorn oil and popcorn salt and it taste just like movie theater popcorn except its warm and fresh.

i LOVE it the best. hell one day i want a theater in my home with a giant popcorn maker.

but then this thought came to me. I will never be able to eat popcorn again. well at least not the way i do now. and its depressing. I know i will go through with this. and im sure later my thoughts will change but im almost grieving the loss of my favorite foods that i will surly miss for a while. popcorn, 11 oz sirloine stake--medium rare. french fries..... i know they got me into this mess but its hard and i havnt been to my consult yet! eek....

I eat all those things. None in excess and none everyday. Your feelings and outlook on food will change. Pre-op I was fearing this loss of food like you are. There are things I miss bring able to eat in quantity but only slightly. Feeling good, looking good, and being 110 pounds lighter is worth it.

"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." --susan maria leach before & after, second: living and eating well after weight-loss surgery.

That's a line that is helping me. Im going back and forth. is this worth it? maybe i havent tried hard enough. ect. but i know that in the end it wont matter that i cant stuff my face anymore. it wont matter that i wont have a buffet infront of me. ill have a body i've always wanted, and the health ive never had.

but this food grief is getting me. i was grieving Texas roadhouse last night. and popcorn today.

how long does it take to get over this?

Ive started prep work in my kitchen. i bought Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: over 140 Delicious Low-Fat, High-Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years after surgery by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray. I started stocking my pantry according to this book so that afterwords i can live from this book for a while. (some of the recipes look amazing!)

I reorganized my kitchen so that everything would be easy access. and started getting rid of junk. (though i cant seem to push myself to get rind of my 8 boxes of thin mints. guess those will be a treat later on or something or something i can give to family.)

My doc gives a very specific week by week list of what you can have for the first 7 weeks post op. that helped me get past the grief. Like detox

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
