Hey Jpayton,

As far as the 6 month weigh ins being mandatory, that all depends on your insurance company. I can only speak in regards to Cigna. Cigna requires certain things, that being one, and I am told that if you comply with their requirements, then approval usually will come. So, to answer your question, you would have to ask your insurance company.

As far as the dietician goes, I set the appointment up from referrals I received from my primary care doc and another referral from my surgeon.

I hope this helps some.

Peace Out!

Good luck tanderson!!! :thumb: :(

I have cigna too and I found out on Tuesday that I am approved. My BMI is 43 as well with no cormobidities My surgeon's office submitted all the paper work to the insurace on Feb. 23. I called Cigna every week after that and last week I called every day. Still it took them 1 month to make a decision. Yesterday Cigna called my surgeon's office and I was able to schedule a my surgery for Wednesday, April 4, today I went for my pre-op cusultation and tests. I am very excited and getting everything ready for Wednesday:clap2: :whoo: :whoo: :whoo: :whoo: :whoo: :whoo: I think you'll be approve as well.:gluck:

I was very excited to read your post about your approval. I have Cigna also with a 40 BMI and no cormorbities. My surgeon will be Dr Marsden but I believe that he uses the same insurance office as Dr. Carter.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
