Almost 10 months out and constantly dizzy!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

As I said I am 10 months out and constantly dizzy. Everytime I stand up I feel like I'm going to faint. I thought that this would get better with time, but it seems to be getting worse.

I have heard there is a correlation between dizziness and dehydration, but was wondering if anyone knew anything else that might help or be causing it or is this something that I'm just going to have to live with for the rest of my life? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like possibly orthostatic hypotension? In any event, I would definitely get in touch with your PCP and get this checked out thoroughly. It may be something not related to your sleeve at all. Orthostatic hypotension can be related to dehydration but there are lots of other causes as well. Or it could very well be something else entirely . . . but it doesn't sound like something you just want to guess at.

Thank you so much for your reply I have never heard of that, so I am definitely going to look into it and get in touch with my doctor.

I agree with Buffle. Could well be low blood pressure or other medical issue. If you are getting your 8 cups of Water in, it shouldn't be dehydration, unless you are laying roof tile in Phoenix in the summertime, or other activity that requires a lot more fluids. Go see your primary doc so they can check you out. Let us know what happens.

I was totally going to say hypotension related to dehydration would be my first guess BUT... I watch a ton of videos that sleevers post and one girl said 'weird things' happen post op. She said she had some inner ear thing happen to her and it caused her dizziness. Best bet would be to first get a set of orthostatic blood pressures taken by your PMD to rule that out first. Then if that is ok have your inner ears checked. Usually vertigo dizziness manifests like the room is spinning as opposed to hypotension which feels more like that woozy, weak, bout to pass out dizziness. Sorry, that is the best description I have before my morning nourishment. Hope you get to the root of it but in the meantime up your fluids if possible and see if that helps. Besh wishes.

First thing you should do is talk to your Dr's office as they can check you out. We can offer suggestions or pull from our own experiences, but only a medical professional can help you out the right way :)

I have this issue often, and am only 5 weeks post - op. I know I'm not getting enough fluids in per day. Apparently, I'm one of the few that can't seem to drink enough. IDK but it happens. Between that, AND not getting enough Protein in, I get dizzy. Make sure you're getting all your Protein in because that is an issue for us. Gotta make sure we're getting our nutrients.

Take care of yourself!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
