Hi, I would not have that puree' chicken. I am on full liquids and my surgeon said that I was not to progress to pureed until he sees me in 2 weeks. I had to smile about the drain that was weird - no one ever mentioned that before :) Good luck.

Does yogurt count on your full liquids?

I just came home this afternoon my surgery was Thursday April 10! I wish I could say it was a great 2 days I the hospital but I had crazy nausea issues with any medicine and or ANY movement I made. Worst few days ever! They finally changed the medicine and nausea medicine last night and it knocked me out for a great nights sleep! Got up moving and was finally not having bad reactions from everything! Yay! I agree the drain coming out was the worst as that was the only spot I was sore the worst! Ate 2 jellos today and sipes lots of random liquids before they cleared me to come home! Now liquids for the next 2.5 weeks til I meet with the dr again. Even with the horrible barium test and rolling around and feeling like I was dying this is all worth it! I can't wait for this new chapter that I can't believe has already started and seeing where this road will take me! Best of luck to everyone and here's to speedy recoveries!

You should have some Protein Shake or something. And rest is what you need to fully recovery. I sleep a ton but feel a little better everytime I wake up.

According to the diet plan they gave me I should do clears for 2 days, then full Liq for 3-7 days then purée diet, then soft.

I'm on orders from my own doc to eat as much puréed Protein as possible. Think it's best we follow our own drs orders.

My preop diet is 2 weeks long :-(. And I'm on my 2nd time. Anesthesia went haywire and I woke up with no lap band the first time, so now I'm on preop for April 22.

Oh Em Gee! I can't imagine how disappointed you must have been. Everything happens for a reason. I would have just been happy that they had it under control. Are you still doing the lapband?

I'm glad everything went well. I hope I don't get a drain.

I agree it's been so weird looking at food and NOT wanting to eat any of it. Trust me after being a biggie girl all my life and now having this only 2 days out and not wanting to eat it's def a new sensation! My parents and husband have been great moms feeding me like a baby again and is loving it! Lol she even has timers going off when it's time for another bite and I feel like a toddler saying no no no! Haha

yes, it says 2 TBSP, lowfat, plain or smooth. No seeds from added fruit. so vanilla or plain. It went down great. I tolerated 4 tbsp today , as a meal.

Ive had RNY on 4/8 been home since Thursday evening doing great..dr hosp did follow up today and I told them all the fluids and protiens im getting in and she was very surprised I am average 100oz of fluids a day and the requirements is I believe 65-70 she asked if I was nausea or anything I said no. Im also takin my supplements and having Protein Shakes one kind I tried didnt agree too much but other wise im keeping everything in its going down nicely I have followup on 4/21...I almost feel like I didnt have surgery except dor every sip I feel the gurgles as it goes down. From what im reading what im experiencing is odd...altho the shake that didnt agree was a heavier shake the other shake is EAS carb control and broth and tea and jellos so mostly pretty thin liquids could that be why I can consume so much?

Good for you !! I am overall doing pretty well too and like you say, everything I am sipping, is thin and room temp. I think what we learn is that we are all so different but have a common factor :) Keep up the good work. Do you know when we start to see the scale move? I would really like that !!!

Yes, still doing lapband if I can get my lungs to cooperate :-)

I noticed this morning a 3lbs loss so I think the iv fluids starting to come off it can only be downhill from here! :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
