Saline Removal

What were your symptoms? Was this a surprise or were you expecting a problem? Is it your pouch that's dilated or your esophagus?

I think what you're experiencing is on the mind of many of we bandsters. For me, sometimes, two bites of food cause a stuck episode and other times I can eat a huge plate of food. So, I hope the quick stuck episodes indicate my pouch and esophagus are working as they should.

But, any light you can shed on this would help the group?

For you, my suggestion is to stick with mushy foods for a while? Did your surgeon give you a dietary plan for the next 30 days? Obviously you've experienced success in the past so why not now. You have the know-how so it'll take some will power to get back on track eh?

We'll basically I fell off the wagon and started eating like a high school football player. Cokes, bread. Almost anything and everything I'm not supposed to eat. Now my pouch is dilated. The RN said that my pouch should be about the size of a thumb and now it's the size of three. So basically the nutritionist said, back to the basics. I guess I just need to encourage myself to eat right no matter what.

LOL...Well, I admire your honesty :)

Yeah, I did the same over this last holiday but didn't put on that much weight. Still, I'm looking forward to better weather so I can get my old Trek bike out there and feel the wind in my face for miles and miles.

So, no more pizza, burritos, subway sandwiches, Pasta for a while eh? Hit it hard and keep your eye on the prize.

simple diet for us bandster. Protein first about 3-4 oz. vegetable second if you are still hungry, and if you really need it a carb. you want to keep your meals at 3time a day about a cup or less per meal. be creative with your meals so you don't get bored. use your spices etc. to make meat or your choice of protein have flavor. if I was in your boots I might start off doing 24 hours of liquids, and than graduate through the phases we have to do. good luck. I was wondering what size band do you have? and why were you able to eat so much without being in pain? I know if I eat more than my pouch allows it causes me pain and not just a little pain. I wish you lots of luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
